Yes. Potency per gram would be less in older ones, but older ones contain more. For example it might weigh 4x heavier but only be 1.5x stronger. Search the forums. Eating 10 small ones that weighed ~2g dry would not be the same as eating 10 big ones that weighed ~8g dry.

20mm rain and 5-14days after would be good imo. But 10mm would still yield results.

Hey folks... This has been an absolutely beautiful weekend for hunting! Such amazing weather. Not for sub growth though sadly hehe.
Anyway, here are some photos from the walkabout. Apologies for the poor phone cam quality. All the actives were left to help the patches as they were mostly small and undeveloped.

Check out the other photo of it here http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/14492212#14492212, fairly sure it is the edible kind, but I have no plans on eating it anyway

apparently shitake mushrooms are a natural anti-carsinogen (sp?) plus they taste nice too. mushrooms go really well with sauces and things that they can soak up flavour from imo.

Check this out. Thought this would be helpful for identifying subs in different weather/moisture levels. Subs were picked in my backyard with mycelium attached, then soaked in a bowl of water for several hours, notice the swelling and change of cap colour from the dull metalic brown to a shiny orange

Nice patch - found a similar sub today in NSW (posted in the NSW Thread)with a wavey cap as the ones in the top right hand corner - unfortunately he was all by himself though.

Nice, that's pretty cool. It'd be good to know if they actually grow and continue to produce more chemical compounds or if they're just soaking up the water and getting fatter. So much stuff to research and read gah..

Yeh I was really surprised to find them. Was finding all dry ones and just stumbled across these (no rain for a while). I think the grass and weeds helped keep the ground moist.

Just a quick question i have succesfully been hunting on two different occasions. I have a pretty good idea of what to look for but sometimes i find some shrooms that look like subs but they have hollow stems. Can subs have hollow stems? And do you know of any mushrooms that look like subs and bruise blue but arn't subs? Or if they look like subs and bruise blue are they going to be subs? Thanks guys and good luck
