watching a friend trip bad, ideas?
    #14490725 - 05/21/11 05:56 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

so one of my friends is currently tripping on lsd, he took about 200 ug and is tripping pretty hard.
he seems to be overwhelmed by negative energy without a core, im directing him to look into the core/root of it and he finds it, but refuses to go deeper. any ideas?
frankly im thinking he may just have to ride this out. i gave him some seroquel to combat the anxiety but it's just making him tired

seems like the hard times have been rollin around lately, psychedelics seem to be changing(not the actual psychedelics but in how they are affecting most people i know) but it could just be our point in time, sometimes having negative experiences can be the best thing for someone.

Remind them that they're on a drug, and that the soul purpose of that drug is to have fun. Change whatever is making them have a bad trip.

Tell him to focus on only positive things, there is simply no need for anything negative.

And when it comes down to it why worry, worrying never helps.

Give him a piece of fruit, or a glass of juice, see if he wants to pee, wants a sweater, or needs to take one off.  Maybe there's a song he'd want to hear.

This "drugs are changing" phenomenon you're witnessing -- it's called getting older.  It happens to every generation.

I have a forumla for helping people through bad trips. It's simple but it works pretty well.

  • Turn off all music, television and other distractions
  • Sit and talk with them about mundane things
  • Tell them stories about your life
  • Make jokes
  • Never mention anything spiritual or philosophical to them
  • Ask them to tell you stories about their life
  • Whenever they start trying to tell you how hard their tripping, or how bad it feels or whatever ignore them and bring them back into mundane conversation
  • Finally after about 30 minutes (or longer) of borning conversation tell them you want to put on some music.
  • Put on some music, either the beatles or something they like. Don't ask them what they want to listen to though.
  • If they ask you to put something on for them do it, otherwise you choose. Don't ask them.
  • Now go back and just chill with them

This method relies on breaking them out of the introspective spiral engaging them in "normal" thoughts. After about 30 minutes, they'll still feel bad BUT they won't be focused on the negative thoughts any more. Put on some music at this point to give them some good vibes. :musicnote:

I've done this method a number of times and have had it done to me, it usually works pretty well.

:peace:

What about the morphogenetic field that Robert Anton Wilson and T mckenna always talked about. It sounds crazy but I guess they did an experiment with rats solving mazes and replicated the results many times, I never really did understand if that was true or what.

lmao oh it was Rupert Sheldrake actually. I just remember listening to Mckenna talk about how ketamine was a giant sky-scraper with empty rooms while psilocybin was packed with information from the shamans. And the rat study was done with a maze and different rats across the country which there offspring or then seemed to be getting better at the maze, i think thats how it went, ring a bell? Still i doubt the ops friend is witnessing a change in the field even though who would even know where to begin mapping something like that construct. im still skeptical about the theory..

This. I got into some pretty deep shit at a rave on some acid and my friend tried calming me down by telling me everything will be ok but that just brought attention to the fact I was bad tripping and it had lost meaning so I told him to just talk to me about random shit and I calmed down after 20 minutes and got a flood of euphoria after I realized all was beautiful.
