yes/no?

some might argue it's a waste of money and its not likely there are other planets with actual people but other ppl might say that it could be one of the most significant findings in our planets history if we actually did find a planet with people living there and should get the search rolling asap.

ill just say personally i dont have a goddamned clue about aliens. we do need to focus on ourselves but if other people did exist not too far from us i would like to know. as far as i understand it would make sense that we are not the only people out there since the universe is basically infinite. :eek:

also before anyone says it is a waste of money, just think that we can redirect the funds from the war on drugs rather to this :thumbup:

That's a good point. ...wouldn't be able to trust the government for shit.

I only use them as an example though cause i don't how else we would fund it.

Apparently this is proof that they already know they exist. I'm sure most of you have seen it though. But I'm not sure why it hasn't made more of an impact than it did.

Just the illegal kind.

Honestly I could give a crap less about the government searching for aliens. What they need to do is develop a true space agency that doesn't get fucked over and bogged down with expensive, money-wasting government contracts, and develop space-travel technology that is affordable and far reaching. Meanwhile, NASA shuttles are retired, new tech that was being developed has been halted, and we are dependent upon European countries to put our astronauts into space for millions each time. Wonderful.

There is truly no point in looking. Even SETI is shutting down (or has shut down, right?). The money should be spent in technology for travel, not searching for life that we can't even reach anyway. Knowing something is out there...we already know there are tons of Earth like planets in other systems, the likelihood of life on them is pretty good considering. Actually reaching them? Pretty much never at this point with physics, at least not without using a generational model.

I think it's a waste of time. I don't think any advanced civilization would be able to live long enough to create these super technologies (light speed travel, and what not.) They'd blow themselves up, like us.

there is no way that out of the chaos some order hasn't arisen. order capable of communication. scary thought to realize you're not alone in the universe i guess, but what kind of universe would only have Earth based life in it? a shitty one.
