Yea, usually you want to make sure they can breath some what. Some people say that tin foil can stop that, but I'm not to sure about how much. But, I always take it off after I PC. If you birth them with contams, they could contam the other cakes, if you isolated them, depending on what type of bacteria is growing, if they do produce something, I'm not sure if you would want to ingest it.

thanks for the advice at this point i think im going to start a new set of jars and keep a close eye on all of these.  Worst case scenario I can get some practice with the next steps including birthing even if they re contaminated.  I will just toss them once im finished with them.  It shouldn't hurt to practice a little bit.

You can try to cut off the contaminated spots, it doesn't hurt to try!

can I remove them from the jar early and remove them?  Or wait till im ready to dunk, roll and birth?  Also if I do remove them now can I simply cut out the contams and then put it back in the jar?

I plan on breaking it up in a bulk substrate anyways I dont plan on birthing from cakes but I may have to if more get contaminated

Okay I have gone through every jar thoroughly and even if they showed the slightest sign of that color by the naked eye I isolated them all in the same container.  However there are still 5 golden teacher jars that are almost fully colonized that show NONE of that contam and their are also 7 jars of PF Classic Amazonians that also show NONE of the contam by the naked eye.  I have those in a separate container and will keep a close eye on all of them.

So there are 12 jars that appear to be perfectly healthy and there an additional 8-10 including the 5 I posted earlier that are obviously showing signs of whatever that is...  Some are BARELY showing but just to be safe I isolated them with the rest.

I am hoping the healthy ones will pull it out and make it

UPDATE.  I checked on the ones I suspected to contaminated and you guessed it overnight they all sprung up with similar spots.  The 12 that I managed to salvage still appear to be perfect.

Should I go into emergency birthing mode and birth the ones I know for a fact are not contaminated.  They are 95% or more colonized I hate to do it early but i dont want to lose out to the black plague.  Can anyone give me any advice on this?

I could just birth them from cakes and isolate them somewhere safe

Shit can the bad. don't open inside.
Let good colonize 100% & then wait a week to consolidate then birth.
