TULSA, Oklahoma -- Austin Box's death has brought attention to the problem of prescription pain killer overdoses. Hundreds of people die from these overdoses every year in Oklahoma.

Doctors and police officers alike say it's an epidemic that's out of control. More people die in our state from prescription drugs than illegal drugs like meth, heroin and cocaine.
Like OU football player Austin Box, people who overdose on prescription pain killers often start with a legitimate injury. Pain killers have a legitimate use, but some people take more than advised. Others combine their pain pills with alcohol or other drugs, which can lead to tragic consequences.
Nearly 700 people died because of drugs in Oklahoma last year, 80 percent of those involved prescription pain killers.
"Sometimes, all it takes is one slip up," Dr. Andrew Revelis, Tulsa Pain Consultants, said.
Dr. Revelis teaches other doctors the importance of properly prescribing pain meds.
At Tulsa Pain Consultants, they run urinalysis and check patients against the state database to make sure they're not getting prescriptions from other places. They also use techniques other than pills to treat chronic pain.
He firmly believes, doctors can and should control the supply of these pain killers.
"You need to make sure the people prescribing it know how to prescribe it and now how it's getting out there and make sure it doesn't make it onto the streets," he said.
He said many people believe because the drug made by pharmacy companies and prescribed by doctors, it's safe, but, it can quickly snowball into a problem without the correct oversight.
"A lot of times, people start out with good intentions, prescribe medications for the right reasons, then the problem gets out of control," Dr Revelis said.
OxyContin is called the Hillbilly heroin and doctors want people to understand if it's not taken the right way for the right reasons, just how dangerous, even deadly it can be.
Educating doctors is one step, but police say, another is to stop people from selling their pain meds. Just one bottle of 60, 20-miligram OxyContin pills goes for $1,200 on the street.
Just a note to them who think the only answer is prohibition, regulation? The war on drugs ridiculed again.

Its because Oklahoma is so boring. Harsh drug laws has caused nobody to want to live here or party here or anything. Its to the point that people turn to meth and OC and shit just because its around and mushrooms or acid isn't.

I'll just say it now. If you have some dank drugs, any kind of drugs, from nugs to psychs to opiates, you could make millions in Oklahoma.
Millions.
Just don't get caught.
I've seen ounces of reggie go for 80 to 100. Mushrooms at 15 a gram. LSD at 20 a hit. The prices can be pretty crazy, but that's just because nothing is going on here.
I play video games to pass the time instead of going out and doing stuff (parties, meet people, etc) sometimes. Staying home is a good way to guarantee that I can get high the next day, because the law here is ridiculous. You don't want to get caught in Oklahoma with anything, that's for sure.

I have a best friend who is up for his possible last drug test under probation. I'm just waiting on him to be able to move out of state. Then we're saving up some money between us (Probably like 1500 at least between both of us) and moving somewhere. We aren't sure where, but we plan to find a rent house for a good price, get a month's rent going, and try as hard as possible to find jobs.
We hope to move to a MMJ or legalized state. I think we're thinking Colorado at the moment, although I also heard Flagstaff is pretty cool too.
Edit: me if you wanna talk more about living areas. I don't want to derail the news story.

its not just hash. kief can get you life too because they treat it as hash and see no difference. grinding your weed into a powder can get you the same sentance if the wrong cop finds it. they've subsequently banned 3 stage grinders that grinds and has a screen that filters the kief into a bottom chamber.

Something else here. Most of the drug taking friends I have are gonna ask about the drug before they take it. They are gonna usually think about and sometimes turn stuff down. It's a different mental process when reaching for the prescription. It's pure from a pharmacy, it is a set dosage every time.
