Great pics! :awesome: Those Mycena are awesome.

Was 3 growing from wood? or soil around the base of the tree? It looks like a Cortinarius sp.

I think 5 is a different species of Cortinarius

If those are brown spores all over the stem then it must be a Cort, and the blue is a little high on the stem for P. salicinus, but the cap is doing that Pluteus thing, shiny and wrinkling.   Thought I'd suggest it.

i first thought Stropharia aeruginosa but those gills are not dark enough. and your right Joie, there seems to be some orangish spores on the stipe, i agree with Cortinarius. what a beauty.

great finds Stop! i can now go to hell with great images in my mind.

p.salicinus is VERY VERY SMALL - like so small thats why not many even find em or why no one eats them for majik properties - - - - #3 def looks like a cool cort of some sort:thumbup: rusty spores on the stem give it away - it does tho have a mimic quality to its looks - quite sexy:heart:
Remember - pluteus salicinus is VERY VERY petite and small - only a few will show noticable bruising and it will be sooooooo small of a fruit its damn tough to get pics of the bruising

Nice finds Stopwhispering:headbanger: Love the nice pics:mushroom2::heart: :awesomenod:

No. 3 was growing directly from the tree, I am pretty sure it was a Cortinarius.  The first three species were actually all growing attached or in very close proximity to the same tree.

It was a day of Corts for me haha, there are more I will post up sometime tomorrow.

It could be a different one, it looked very close to one that I've had ID'd as Cortinarius rotundisporus though.

The pic of the ant is awesome. Bugs are such a pain in the as to photograph... they always move faster than my camera can focus.

I nearly got him spot on just the head is out of focus a bit, he was running round like a madman so it was tough to try and get him in frame let alone in focus.  :tongue2:

I really do admire people that have the patience to take good insect photos, especially dragonflys, they have these awesome multicoloured beard things going on.

Cheers man   I was really happy with how they all came out, I took a bit more time with these ones, and shot in RAW for the first time.  It was an amazing difference, I hardly had to do any editing which was good cause I always seem to screw up the colours when I edit my other shots.

Hehe didn't realise Cortinarius don't grow from wood.  I relooked over the shots and rattled my brain around and I think you are right it was from the dirt at the base of the tree.  It's a bit confusing because it pokes through the bark.

Feel like such a doofus everytime I make a mistake like that.  :facepalm3:

it looks like 3 is coming from the wood. Orange sporeprint/blue greening makes me think gymnopilus of the sctive variety. Got any more pics of it?

Only one other shot on the pc, I'll have a look through the camera and see whats there that I didn't use.

I really need to pay more attention when I am hunting I keep missing crucial details.  I suppose the more I hunt/try to ID my finds the better I'll get at it.

I am fairly confident it is a Cortinarius, not Gymnopilus.  MO consensus seems to be Cortinarius rotundisporus I have not seen one of those with such green colouring on the cap before though.

I'm not convinced they are C. rotundisporus but they could be. I agree that the colours don't seem right for that species.

Yeah it just seems a lot different colour wise to any I have seen before.
