Good day to you all, I guess I am the next noob in town here. I just wanted to say thanks all ready for the incredible data base of information here. Wow. I am very excited to be getting back into this study again. I have successfully cultivated Shitake, Oysters, and Ps amazonia in the past( Many many moons ago…..). I have spent a good portion of my live in South East Asia and Florida and have collected Ps. all over. I have recently re discovered spore prints I have taken from these cultivated amazonia and also wild found cubensis from central Florida. I have also recently been given spores prints from the amazing strain of caerulipes from New York state. Needless to say let’s get the agar out! Wooo HOO! I am very curious right now. So now Im building a hood, breaking out the agar and scrubs. Going full bore again. I am currently researching Oysters and Shitakes. Oysters to use as cover in my garden. Shitakes just because they are YUMMY. I am wondering how much I can produce on my measly piece of earth, besides the fact that this is such a fun hobby. My kids and I regularly hike around and find wild oysters and morels. I also know there is a cat in SC that has successfully started cultivating white morels! Needless to say I can’t wait to start messing with that one. I am excited and have always been pulled very hard towards mycology. The fungal gods have given me the gift of finding our happy friends.
BTW: I am an entomologist so anyone with insect problems let me know maybe I can help, or at least get a good id, or referral to someone who could. Thanks again for all you professional and amateur mycologist out here that have helped build this magnificent database. Wow, this is amazing info here. Later, Jigme wangchuk
ps. Oh yeah, anyone know how long spores are viable for if taken from wild collection placed on sterile glass plates, pressed together and taped with non porous tape? I have some that are 15 yrs old....They were collected the right way in the right conditions. Thanks again! Jigme

Welcome. You'll also find people on here, like myself, that have never grown mushrooms and are simply addicted to the shroomery. The formatting on your post was pretty annoying to read.

Welcome to the Shroomery mate! Sounds like you'll be a valuable addition to the collection of nut cases that tend to hang out here
