Yesterday saw shit loads of subs growing near Chadstone shopping center, right near the freeway, didnt pick any as they would be contaminated from car pollution.

DepthToTheCore said:Good method for drying, thats for sure. However i think mine is far easier and trumps this, however has a few prerequisites :P.
If you have a front loader dryer, a relatively modern one, most will come with a rack that is used to dry shoes. It doesn't spin, it sits in the middle and stays still whilst the dryer spins. I layer the rack with newspaper, place the mushrooms on the rack and they're cracker dry within 45 mins. Easy!
That's a keen idea! I have one of them . That would probably drop spores all over the dryer too, so you'd basically be a walking spore distributor the next time you dried your clothes. Although if they dry that fast doesn't that mean the temperature would be pretty high? I thought that had negative effects for potency?

Awesome photo man, how'd you darken the corners of it?

like these?:

These are subs, just matured. So if this is the case, maybe this is why you notice these 'wavy tops' pop up first, because they'd be a first round of subs that grew, then new subs would have started growing around them. Could also depend on the climate and seasonal change in your area that affects their physical and chemical properties.

Squinty said: 4, Some of the gallerina's are very similar in appearance to the 'subs'. Is it true that gallerina's never bruise blue?
4: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm fairly sure there is only one strain of gallerina that grows elsewhere in the world that bruises blue, not in Aus.

ID Request please. These were harvested about 2 hours before the first photo, and handled very gently. The second photo was taken about 3 hours after picking.
The caps are showing some signs of greeenish blue patches but not as much as I'd expect on the stems. Thanks for helping...

Hey man, you should make ID requests directly to the Mushroom Hunting and Identification page. You'll get a lot more responses from verified identifiers

I'm sure I've read this numerous times. I'm fairly sure I've confused myself. Potency per gram would be less in the older specimens compared to younger, correct? Can you point me in the direction of your information?

We were a little unsure about these guys at first because of the cap colour being a bit too light, but we figured maybe it was because of the lack of rain the past couple of weeks. Once we got them home and gave them all a good look-over, all of them were bruising blue both on the caps and on the stems. Only threw out two that looked a bit suss.
I noticed this thread has gone a bit quiet. Any other finds yet?
