The forgotten Pink Oyster jars

Thought I'd post some pictures of a failed/forgotten growing effort that yesterday brought me quite a surprise.
Well over a month ago, I inoculated half a dozen BRF jars with some pink oyster LC, with the intention of spawning the colonised jars to straw in a laundry basket grow. Well, only two jars showed any signs of colonization and as this wasn't going to give me enough spawn to set up a proper grow with, I just, well...completely forgot about them. So there they sat, ignored on the shelf in the spare room, for over 7 weeks. Just yesterday, it dawned on me that I should probably do something with them (mainly because I needed some more jars!), so pulled them out:
Here's what I see first, lots of pin formation within the jars. Some real beasty pin sets too!
I cracked the lids off them, total colonization through the dry vermiculite barrier and primordia formation on top. There was ALOT of metabolite formation too, this was some mega pissed off mycellium!:
A close up of the colonized dry verm barrier with primordia.

So, I was going to toss them out. But I thought I may as well birth them and chuck them in a mini shotgun FC. I didn't dunk them, both jars had a pretty substantial amount of pin sets already so didn't think that was necessary. The pinsets got pretty beat up in the birthing process, but one day later, here's how things are looking:

I thought that was pretty interesting. I also have a question: If a jar has begun to pin, like these ones had, can they still be used to spawn to straw? Or is the fact that primordia have already formed mean the mycellium has changed from a vegetative to reproductive state, and mycellium will no longer actively colonise a substrate?
Thanks for looking,

don't use as spawn after they start to pin, however it is ok to dunk with pins to provide enough moisture to get you all the way through fruiting

LOL, happened to me too, Oyster's are BEASTS!
Here's a pic of the spawn bag I had last year, the made their way out and fruited on their own. Now I see why they said "keep in fridge at near freezing temp until your ready to use" LOL, but they say they fruit at cold temps and this was in the 80's LOL.

Thanks slaphappypill, true I didn't think of the moisture factor as a reason for a dunk...always just thought it was solely to cold shock them.
Haha, nice one guest1. Yeah my jars were sitting in the 80's during the day too. I think pink oysters are pretty tolerant and are gonna fruit whether you like it or not (with the exception of freezing the buggers!). Awesome pics
Cheers
