biggest issue i'd deal with in living outdoors by myself for more than a few weeks would be loneliness. i'd have to leave camp every once in a while and seek out some human interaction.
i know i'd turn into some sort of strange hermit like character if i spent too much time alone in the forest.

"We are all intoxicated. We were born into an insane asylum, a world crazy-making. We believe what we see and hear. The real myth is the myth of sanity, of rationality: it's a disease that is eating away at the earth. All the poisons flow from our denial. We deny madness, we forget our crimes, we dismember the corpse, we imprison our children. We need poison to poison the poison, to remember the sacred nature of intoxication, the green body of the young god." ~ Dale Pendell

when i was homeless when i was younger. i lived in a tent city. trust me its not fun. a hot shower turns into a pleasure after you experience the outdoors for an extended period of time.
im not sure of your location, but in Seattle, when it would rain. The tent would get wet. We had to put the tent on pallets, and put a whole bunch of tarps over it so the tent itself wouldn't leak even though we had a good one. just keep things like that in mind. also if you are storing food outdoors, keep the idea that there are wildlife out there too and they are hungry like you and will take/eat your shit.

Very true. I always have a hard time being vigilant about keeping my kitchen/eating areas seperate from my camp. - Believe me, it's not cool having bears raiding your shit at 5am .. or even waking up to raccoons nibbling on your shoe laces or whatever...
Last time i went camping solo, there were no bear bins and all the trees were tall scraggly fir snags with tiny dead curled branches which i wasn't able to toss a line over.
I finally ended up looping my bear bag over a dead tree hanging off a small cliff, over a raging river at the bottom of a waterfall.
It was my only choice, and I was sure it was fool proof.
Get this - some small rodent type creature ATE THE ROPE tying my bear bag up (talk about smart animals!) The bag with my FOOD and expensive back packing stove FELL, 30ft, on the rivers edge and almost got swept away. The animals scaled the 30ft cliff and ate all my oats, trail mix, and cheese.
I was pissed.
You must devise a good food storage system. DO NOT eat in our around your sleeping area. HANG your garbage.
-------------------- GO OUTSIDE.

Water and food Shelter and washing
I'm using a pocket solar shower for washing myself and some anti-bacterial gel. I have a half a 5 litre plastic jug and some handwash for washing clothes. My food cooking tin can also be used to wash knife, fork and spoon after dinner.
If you are near a spring or clean water source this is much easier. I have to buy big jugs of water from the supermarket so its precious.
I poop in a bad and put in a bin urban living or dig a little hole and bury it when out in woods.
Do you have savings so you can buy water, food and toiletries etc?
Have you learnt water curing, firecraft, etc and all the basics?
I have to have a tent to keep bugs out and dry etc as mentioned... How you gonna cook? I use this...

Hello mate.Heres a few tips for you to keep in mind.
*Choose a spot on the river where people are knowin to catch fish ( or crustions if you have them in your area)
*definitely take a quality tent or swag. You can find those on Ebay for decent price and it will last you for life, providing you take care of it.
* A tarp or two is a must also.good for shade and shelter
* Hunting materials
* Axe would be very handy
*A shit ton or nard roll ( nobody likes cleaning their asshole with their hand.Indians excluded.
* Camera
* many books to keep your mind occupied when not out gather supplies for your camp
* A chunk of flint will also be handy
*Shovel
* Last but not least-Take as many psychedelics with you as you can get your hands on
I could add to the list of shit to take/that would be helpful but I dare say you would have a good grasp on that by now.Best of luck mate, you'll have the time of your life. Keep us updated
Peace

Do it I loved it. I slept outside from spring to fall one year. Woke up to a bear sniffing me in my hammock watched it walk off lazily.
Woke up to a hawk screech, looked up in the branch above me and saw the red tail. It flew off and dropped a feather, I got out of bed and caught the feather before it hit the ground.
One time a rope failed and i fell out of my hammock, Well it just fell three feet. I went UH and rolled over and passed out.
A bowl of salvia before bed was nice sometimes. Just look up at the trees and moon and watch crystal cities manifest.

Sorry it has been so long since I updated. I've been slammed with the end of the school year getting all my term papers done. Also been taking as many extra hours at work as I can get. Schools over now. Friday was my last day at work. I'm now completely devoted to the task at hand.
I mentioned my plans to a few people and a couple of them showed interest in going. My full intentions from the beginning of planning this trip weren't to find isolation or learn to survive in the wild. I simply wanted to live outdoors, so I was happy to offer them an invitation.
The spot I found is about an hour drive from the nearest town. I wish I would have taken pictures but I forgot my camera. The people who will be coming all have to work 3-4 days a week. They will be staying in town during the days they work and at the camp on their days off.
I am still preparing for the trip as if I were going alone as I don't wan't to feel dependent on anyone, but having people who will periodically be able to bring food will be great. Everyone's work schedule is similar so I will still have multiple days to myself.
I plan on leaving Monday and don't know if I will update again before that. I have to be back by mid August and am not sure if I will update any time between now and then. I may have a day back in civilization or I might despise the idea. Who knows. I'll update you all when I can and be sure to take plenty of pictures!
