Anyone ever have this conundrum? I am thinking of just blowing it and working normal hours and making some bullshit excuse. tell the boss man i am getting stress migraines or something. probably not though, better to actually just get the work done and get it behind me.

My first salary job, I would come in at 6am, start working on my projects. I would leave about 6PM, and i was getting chewed out for not working enough overtime.

My first salary job....
I started working at a place as a part time employee, in fact my first job. I ended up moving up to full time then shift leader then foreman. That's when it all went down hill. The manager bailed and then the old foreman bailed on weeks off sick leave and vacation because he said fuck this shit, I am not going to be the guy that trains a dude to take my job.
I was then number one, training the new manager in the equipment. That manager failed. Ended up getting fired/let go. A new manager came in. But in that time as foreman I was on salary. I was making less than every shift leader and some of the full time employees by my time of leave.
One bad night happened and the top brass said you get .50 cents less an hour. I saw the paper signed it than walked the fuck out.
Salary is a bitch unless you have the right job.
Just don't start selling meth. Jailarity ensued.

I love my salary. Good ol' reliable. Thing about a salary is that once you have invented some clever systems to handle your regular workload it gets to be a real cherry. This is why your 30-year city official veterans have successful small businesses. They have automated their day jobs.
Work smarter, not harder. I found that I was wasting time on trying to do things perfect at one point. That shit will kill your productivity.

most salary jobs base the pay on a 50hr week, I worked one where they based it on a 40hr week, 4 weeks in (worked 3 years at hourly) and I miss a day, they docked me the hours even though I put in well over the time I missed in the previous 4 weeks... I didnt bother showing up on monday because they obviously didnt understand what salary meant

Not showing up to work as a way of getting even with your organization definitely gives the wrong impression. All that does is make you look like a scofflaw. Build a reputation for handling your shit and people will look the other way when you miss a day.

Mine's pretty cool. I can usually balance the weeks I work 50+ hrs with the ones I work less than 40. Put in 70 this week and might get called in tomorrow It's a rollout of a major project though, so expected. As long as the place cares about the job getting done rather than putting in the expected amount of OT it sure beats an hourly job.

not really. use the system rather than be used by it. not contradictory to taking the "red pill"
