Get used to it or find another hobby. Fishers don't complain that they often have to sit at the bank of a river for half a day before they get a bite, either. It's how it is.
If you want things now and immediately, better go find a dealer that sells mushrooms or/and acid or learn how to cultivate Psilocybe cubensis, but I am not sure if you'd be willing to wait for 6 weeks before you see the first fruits of your labor.

Hmm, I believe that the knotweed catches wood debris, which the ovoids like. Apparently they especially like alder and maple. They are usually found within 100ft within a river/stream (I believe). They enjoy the company of mulch as well.

Try to enjoy the random shrooms you find, it helps : ]

if it's an ovoid, you should notice it turning blue in well under 1 minute. You,ve probably walked right past some already. They are usually only 2-4 inches tall and the weeds around them are a foot or better. If I'm not mistaken those little, "helicopter" seeds are maple seeds, but that doesn't matter. You could find them under pine trees, if there were hard-wood debri under it. Grassy-like meadows by the stream is the place to look

I don't know where you live, but maybe one of those finding places
is located near you:

Depending on where you live  I'll give you a nudge in the right direction. Your best bet to find Oviods is to stick along bends in rivers and streams where wood debris has a chance to pile up the most, you can usually find them growing inside the Japanesse knotweed in wood debris piles and at the base of japanesse knotweed plants, if you plan to go looking better bring alot of bug repelent, knotweed in late May = mess.

Some Ovoid habitat shots.

The places I usually locate them are along creeks that feed rivers, in an area where trees are kinda spaced out and there is alot of undergrowth. Piles of wood debris are good indicator.

But like the Kahuna says, there will be alot of times where you are dirty, cold, tired, and empty handed after a long hunt.

Once you get a feel for what they like it gets easier though.

That's a good reason to create your own patch.

In E's picture of the stream I would go for the left hand shore. The high banks resist flooding, but you can still find ovoids in an area like that. I've also noticed that I find more of them in areas where the stream has a bend.

If you went for the left you would be on the wrong side actually. That side floods TOO often and no fungi can grab a hold. We had bad flooding that washed them up on the higher right bank, that's where I found them. And as long as we dont get too bad of a flood in the next couple years that whole bank will be covered w/ them cause there are so many piles of wood debris.

I have never found morels and ovoids in the same habitat. Ovoids I think are found near larger streams that move a significant amount of running water. I also hear that they prefer hardwood. My morels, I think have found in softer wood forests and never around lots of running water. However, this is just my experience.

The indicator species it seems is japanese knotweed

i find most of my mushrooms in general in areas where there is at least sparse grass. Barren forest floors tend not to produce mush.

That caught me off gaurd when I first read it.

Anyway, those fruits/seeds are called samaras. Generally ashes and maples release them.
