COLUMBUS - On Wednesday Rep. Clayton Luckie (D-Dayton) introduced a ban on bath salts to the Health & Aging Committee called House Bill 127.

Lawmakers say bath salts are being abused by kids and teens across Ohio at a rapid rate.

Teens are snorting, smoking, and injecting these dangerous products sold under the names "White Lightening", "Ivory Wave", and "Hurricane Charlie."

"I said bath salt, that you put in the bath? They said no, you snort it...and I'm like you're joking," said Rep. Luckie, who has received numerous phone
calls about the growing problem.

"They actually use it as like a cocaine, it gets them higher than cocaine, it's cheaper and it's available everywhere," he said.

Banning all bath salts is not the aim of House Bill 127, in fact lawmakers only want to target Cathinone, a common stimulant found in the products.

"I think it's a problem across the whole United States especially in Ohio," said Rep. Luckie.  "It's just like when crack hit the urban areas or when meth hit the rural areas."

Cathinone is already a schedule 1 drug under federal law. Nice job, lawmakers...

Yeah, I heard they were MPDV. No way they're straight Cathinone, that's the stuff in Khat, which is extremely mild. They must be talking about Mephedrone (4-Methylmethcathinone) or methcathinone, but no way it's just cathinone.

it actually can't be methcathinone because that's schedule I in the U.S so they must be talking about Meph.
