I mean it. I LOVE BACON. However, since meditating on the subject of my wholeness to the Universe and if truly being one with everything (this awakening comes on the advent of ingesting shrooms) then eating meat is bad. Killing animals would be like killing myself. I LOVE STEAK. I don't want to give up eating steak, but if I am indeed killing myself when I eat it (kill the cow, ingest the pain it went through, etc. etc...) then shouldn't I stop? Just curious to what other's like myself have thought about this. I HATE TOFU...it sucks. Am I just a selfish bastard for still hanging on?

I know how you feel. I don't buy meat myself anymore, although I do still eat fish and occasionally meat when someone has cooked me dinner who isn't aware of my half-assed pescitarianism.
How about this one: why don't you cut back your meat consumption by half? You can still enjoy eating meat, in the knowledge that you still make a considerable difference compared to your previous behavior.
Oh, and stuff like tofu is an acquired taste, like more or less any type of food. Eat it ten times, and the eleventh time you'll probably genuinely like it.

absolutely good advice. I am also cutting my sugar intake in half. I feel like crap sometimes and I think it's because of the stuff (other than Mother Nature's releases) that I consume. Sugar, meat, so on and so forth....I am doubling my water intake to help with de-toxification. Never thought in a million years I'd be trying to take care of myself. Funny how hallucinogens help me see the error of my ways. Peace to all.

I don't eat meat myself but I figure if you wan't to eat it, eat the stuff that you can go and see and not feel guilty watching it die. If you look at an animal and feel bad about its conditions you should definitely not be eating it. If you have the opportunity, kill an animal yourself before you eat it.
As far as tofu goes its just one of those things that is extremely diverse. Maybe not as diverse as a piece of meat, but it has many uses. You've probably had a dish made with some type of meat that you didn't like. Just because you didn't like that orange chicken, doesn't mean you don't like chicken.
Its important to know that you don't have to eat tofu to quit eating steak or bacon. It isn't one or the other. Tofu has many uses but it isn't a must.
The capitalized points in your post, I LOVE STEAK, I LOVE BACON, I HATE TOFU. Make a choice. If you are okay with eating meat, then eat it and enjoy it. It tastes wonderful. If your not okay with it for whatever reason, don't eat it. Tofu has nothing to do with not eating meat. Give yourself a day to get hungry though and you will appreciate the taste of it. But know it will never compare to a slab of beef.
How far are you going? If you keep cheese and eggs in your diet your loaded with options. What about seafood? Also leaves tons of options.
There are a lot of meat alternatives made to mimic meat products. They might be a good place to start if you are giving up meat.

Something probably ate you in a past life. I wouldn't worry about it.
MMMMM bacon.
Ever hear of the food chain? Cause we're at the top of it.
You think vegetables and fruits don't have feelings? Cause they do, and we're one with them too, but it's ok to eat them.

Your comments remind me of a Reel Big Fish song from the 90's, in part:
Quote:
save a plant, eat a cow, i want beef, i want it now! i'm gonna eat it cause it's red! i'm gonna eat it cause it's dead! maybe i should eat it raw let the blood run down my jaw i'd eat people if it was legal, i'd eat people if it was legal
By the way, I bacon too!

Or how about this cheese onion & pepper encapsulated with chicken on a stick wrapped in bacon and BBQ'd?

I would say stick to free-range, grass-fed stuff, bought from a butcher. Number one, there's a big, big difference between the meat you buy at the super market and the meat you buy from the butcher. Usually, if you've got a local butcher, he's buying an entire cow or two at a time and cutting to his specification, or yours, and unless you live somewhere like Hawaii or Alaska, the cow doesn't have to travel that far. At least that's the case down here in the southwest. If you're concerned about where your meat is coming from, TALK TO A BUTCHER, not a "meat associate" at your local big box store. A lot of butchers around here have tons of free-range, organic options where the animal is only fed what they're meant to eat, not what will make them fatter.
Take grass-fed beef. Put it next to a regular slab of grain-fed beef from the supermarket. The grass-fed animal has better marbling, is more tenders, and although the meat has the slightest greenish tinge, it will probably keep longer since it hasn't been dead for long then frozen over and over again. You might pay a little more, but what's a dollar or two when we're talking about the things you put in your body?
Trust me, getting to know a local butcher will change your outlook on meat. Mine is a homesteader, so it's not only his job but his entire lifestyle, and his cows come from 6 hours north of us. He won't serve what he hasn't inspected and killed himself. While he serves regular meat too, his grass-fed and free-range stuff is easily his top seller, because it's just better. Tastes better, looks better, better for you.
