Not to be a 'retarded noob', but are you incubating it? Where are you storing it? What is the ambient temp of the room its in? Hot to the touch seems a bit warm....
But again, im a 'retarded noob' so what do i know?

If you kill the top of the myc with heat you will have to scrape it or get only side and bottom pins. Bad news is that scraping off a dead top layer may cause more problems or may do nothing, but if you are careful you might find pins under the dead spiderweb like thin layer.
More info would help man, I don't go to the store and ask the clerk what would be the best kind of light bulb to use for a room in a house with doors and painted walls. Oh and it is dark in the room...thats why I need the light bulb. Then they sell you a 700 watt high pressure sodium light and you have to take it back because it wont fit in your mickey mouse night light.

Do you use a high pressure sodium light inside the tub?

its a 36 gallon tote,
30 quarts sub (manure, straw , compost, verm , perlite) 10 quarts spawn (cubensis)
its spawn run started 2 days ago, the mycelium is getting fluffy and it looks all good
but when i opened the tub i saw alot of steam , and i could smell the co2,
im not sure if its just the amount of sub and spawn thats causing the heat, it is spring and temps are atleast +12c right now, the tub is next to another one in a shelving unit,
it seemed a little moist so i wiped down the walls and the lid of the tote, i put the tote elevated so the bottom can cool a little bit, and this stage im just scared of it composting before colonizing from the look of the steam

@OP...sounds like decomposition you got there my friend. if you got no other source of heat and its steaming, i cant think on any other explanation. i advise you not to stick your head in and take a smell just to check tho. all those contams will feck up your lungs.

You should untape a hole or two and stuff with poly semi tight, myc makes its own heat as do all your sub materials wwhen they decompose. Was your poo good and field leeched?

i just did that before i checked this
the poo is perfect, its not the manure,
im thinking, the heat from the day, mixed with a slight higher moisture content, with to little GE and the size, all added to the heat, i mean , i can see the mycelium growing threw, and the heat was just biult up today, and it was a pretty hot day

I had a Hpoo sub that did the same thing, it was always really warm upon opening and not one pin on the top just a few on the sides?
Sometimes it just decides to fruit upside down I guess. Or maybe it was the heat.

Says life seems harsh and cruel. Says he feels all alone in threatening world where what lies ahead is vague and uncertain. Doctor says, "Treatment is simple. Great clown Pagliacci is in town tonight. Go and see him. That should pick you up." Man bursts into tears. Says "But Doctor... I am Pagliacci."

Heat is generated while the mycelium colonizes a substrate, especially when spawning to manure. This is why it's good practice to never incubate colonizing bulk above room temperature (~21c).
I don't really see how it's possible that it was hot enough to burn your hand, however. It almost sounds like you have managed to start a small compost pile.

It smells acidic....even if CO² doesn't smell, you will notice that prickling acidic touch, like if you just opened a bottle of sparkling water. I know what you meant.
