Help with identification
    #14481399 - 05/19/11 10:06 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I live in Oregon, and found these in my yard. My yard consists of a lot of bark, rich soil, and mulch.

Bruising:
no bruising that I can tell, I've been fairly gentle handling them.

Other information:
Smells like most mushrooms, light fungus odor.

I found a ton of these in my yard this evening, I'm curious as to what they are.

Look at the logo in the top left corner. Below that you should see your name. Below that you should see "Pics" Clickit then on the resulting page you should see upload below that.

When in that Pics page, you see your pic tumbnail?

You'll see a box below it with a link in there just click it once (it's copied to your clipboard) and paste it in a post.

Yeah, just remember, Amanita has a veil and volva (among other characteristics). This mushroom is lacking a volva.

Yeah I can see how in the fourth picture it could be mistaken for a volva. But the last picture shows that it is more of a bulb, not a pronounced cup. The other stems appear to be equal or equal with a slight bulb.

Also, Amanitas have white (or off-white) gills...and their spores are white. In the picture you can see there is a bit of darker shading on the gills. My first impression was either brown or lilac...I'm confused because the coloring of the photograph doesn't seem to have good white balance. But in the Arora description it says Agrocybe praecox has cigar-colored spores.

Mmmm...cigars

Amanita also usually have free gills, and those don't quite look free.  And although it's a ridiculously subjective suggestion, they're just lacking the 'amanita aura' - most amanitas exude magnificence, and I've never seen one that looked unremarkable.  Relatedly, these are also too small to be amanitas.  I'm not familiar with any members of the genus that are this small when they are mature enough to be open.

I agree that they are agrocybe species. Evidenced by wood chips hanging off the bottom(it grew from wood chips) and the pale tan gill color
