Mycowlogist said: That's fast growth for stones. Nice job, I hope mine will look that nice in a month! Do you mind answering the questions below. I don't think enough emphasis is given to proper storage conditions.
Where do you store them? what's your average daily room temperature? Elevation? What's your room humdity %?
I'm not sure what -proper- conditions are, but mine have been in the same cardboard box as the mason jars came in (with the top of the box cut off) on the top shelf of my closet. Closet door is usually left open, but sometimes gets shut. I'm not sure of my room humidity, but I'm in a desert climate, so it's likely pretty dry.
Of particular note, I have four more jars that have less substrate in them (about half as much) and the stones are nowhere near as large. They've been growing since 3/23, so they're even older. I'm not sure if that's due to the smaller amount of substrate or because maybe I shook them too early (more probable, I think), but the mycelium network overall looks very weak.
Also, with multispore inoculation, stones tend to form before full colonization. I wouldn't shake after you start seeing stone growth until you're ready to harvest.

Different jar, this is one of the less-progressed ones. Is it contaminated? It doesn't look right at all, but I wanted to ask before I trashed it.

I want to try these

And when you harvest the sclerotia (or not), throw the leftover grain in a tray and case, or spawn to horse manure. Galindoi is extremely easy to fruit, and prints are always in high demand.

Which sounds weird but is very true.

Yeah, I don't know what's the deal, whether people assume it will be very difficult and don't bother even trying, or are they just lazy and happy to have something to get high on.

Update: I harvested one of the jars on Friday. Ended up being slightly over 80g fresh, which I immediately separated into 20g doses, put in paper bags stapled shut, and into the fridge. Ended up giving two bags away to a friend, and ate one on Sunday. I've heard that sclerotia aren't very visual, but I watched my ceiling swirl together and my wall drip like molasses, so I'm not sure where that came from. The taste isn't bad, I didn't give it much of a chance as I washed them down with orange juice asap, but the texture is so much better than mushrooms. They kind of have the texture of an unripe nut, crunchy but plant-like at the same time. With cubes, I'll only take them in tea, I won't eat them. Sclerotia are much more palatable. Overall, I'd definitely recommend growing sclerotia to anyone who grows cubes. It's not hard at all, and the reward is definitely worth it

Nice pics. I like that joke in your signature, too.

I got mine from one of the sponsors here, I don't remember which but it might have been sporeworks. Check out the shroomery sponsor page, they're all great to do business with.
