Honeywater contam?

A friend of mine innoculated honeywater on 4/3 and agitated the solution once a day. It was incubated at 84F. He noticed small strings of mycelium after a few days and left it for a bit. Today (4/10) he checked on the jar and noticed sediment (mycelium?) on the bottom and agitated again. He noticed an odor coming from the jar and opened it slightly and carefully checked the smell. Nasty smell, kinda like shit. Is this normal for honeywater innoculations? Did he leave it incubating too long? Any advice would be great!

Bacterial contam by the sound of the smell :-( Did you use any h2o2 in the honey water? The bacterail contams ive seen in honey water are more like, well cum in water for wont of a better description lol.

LOL! Thanks Paid!
I don't think it quite looks like that... at least not like cum in water that I have seen but I uh.... nevermind.
Anywho... The tek he read said to put h202 in the water 2 days after you see growth. Maybe he miss read it and it is supposed to be 2 days after innoculation.
The water appears to be murky and dusty looking.

no after growth sounds about right. You could maybe stll save the culture.Try knocking up a fresh jar of honey water only with h2o2 this time then extract some of the fibreouse mycelium and as little of the murky water as pos and inject it into the fresh jar. There are so many different bacterail contams that we prob have different bacterial probs, but i belive the same solution should work out ;-) good luck

Right, H2O2 is added AFTER you see growth. Proper growth looks like bits of cotton floating in an otherwise clear liquid. A hazy liquid, precipitate on the bottom, or a sour smell are all bad signs. HW contams often and mold contams look exactly like shroom mycelium. HW is not an easy tek.
