Exactly,if 45 minutes is long enough tp sterilize a dense mass like a cake it stands to reason a liquid wouldn't need 45 minutes.I've taken the lid off before the Pc is cooled and LC is still boiling in the jars

I make mine according to quart quantities in a big pot then strain through in coffee filters then pour into pint jars half full or a bit more never going ove three quarters full, which amounts to roughly 250 ml's (I'm assuming you meant ml instead of cc's).I wouldn'y make them bigger than that incase they contaminate.I highly recomend GLC instead of MS

Ok, thank you. Does MS stand for Multi Spore?

I was thinking, instead of de-pressurizing the jars before innoculating, would it be a good idea to simply give the jar lid a loosen and cover it in foil before pc'ing - then tighten it when the cooker has cooled?

What are you using for lids?(gas exchange)You definately don't want the lids tightened, just loose with foil is great

i didn't kinow i had to have gas exchange for a Liquid Culture - i thought it was meant to be injection port only , am I wrong? My injection ports are 1/4 inch clear silicone without gas exchange holes, normal jar lids.
thanks for the advice so far

You could get away with out it but eventually it will stall out so it depends on if you want to just get enough to noc up a rye bag or whatever or you want a healthy lasting LC that you might want to propagate into more LC

I've just been reading some related posts and sounds like air/gas exchange is the way to go so i'll make sure to have a ventilation hole covered with micropore. Thank you for leading me to9 the correct conclusions!

Micropore tape will work great that way if you do feel they are stalling out you can just peel back the tape under sterile conditions and give it some air.

I'm very glad I could help you out in any way
