Edible find in melbourne
    #14476929 - 05/19/11 04:54 AM (12 years, 8 months ago)

My guess is Pleurotus ostreatus or P. australis. Or are they the same thing? My field guides all contradict each other.

Habitat:
Melbourne, Australia. Was growing out of soil and grass over living elm roots.

more light

Scent: very mushroomy/delicious.

Fair to say that I'm correct?

Cheers!

I wouldn't eat it, looks kind of bluish like Omphalotus nidiformis.

I do not believe its a Pleurotus ostreatus.... They are found on dead logs.
Do a spore print....

These don't look very pleurotoid. I think they're a Leucopaxillus sp.

I don't think they're Omphalotus, I think that's more like... so...

Apparently Omphs also are a bit whiffy, in an unpleasant way.

Anywho, I shan't eat them but I will go back and gather some more for a spore print. These ones have dried out. :frown:
