That's what happens when a stealthy cat runs into a cactus at midnight.
The neighborhood tom was sneaking through my yard when he ran into a booby trap called OC's Peruvian Torch cactus garden. He was so shocked by the spines he leaped into a bigger cactus and ricocheted into a third and knocked them both down.
I never heard an animal cuss before tonight nor at such volume. He started with a shriek of surprise then a howl of pain followed by a dozen unprintable expletives.
Methinks the gap between humans and our furry cousins is not so great.
