Early Spring Eugene Oregon ID
    #14476161 - 05/18/11 11:22 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

Habitat:
I found this in a park by a lake under a some sort of pine tree in wood chips on May 18 in Eugene, Oregon. Gills: attached.
Without going into further detail, because I'm sure these aren't rare and that I've seen them around before, I think this is probably easily identifiable with pics alone.

Thanks much.

Cut it, does it stain orange/red immediatly, fading to brown?

Chlorophyllum rhacodes if it does.

If it's A.augustus, it's way out of season.

a more adult specimum is helpful, and get a spore print.

Check for a cup at the base of the stem too.

Yup. Exactly. I didn't take a spore because I'm not going to eat them; this was just purely out curiosity. But after looking at various pics of Chlorophyllum Rhacodes, macroscopically, they look very similar.

Thanks for your help folks
