Two of my favorites were always illusion of gaia and demon's crest. If you want one that'll take a while try super ghouls n ghosts.
Edit: I also heard a lot of good things about clock tower

http://vimm.net/ for all of you classic emu needs it has SMRPG and I've never found a game it didn't have
I also like to recommend the Shining Force series for genesis

Zelda is more of and action RPG RPGs don't have to have a turned based battle system look at the newer FFs or Star Ocean Leveling mechanics can also be a defining factor which in Zelda equates to the item pick ups

What exactly is funny about a 15 second download to instantly play an entire game? I don't get it.
Also, Foss1l, I ended up finding a translated version of Tactics Ogre and I absolutely love it, thanks for the solid reccomendation man
