birthing emergency
    #14472067 - 05/18/11 07:58 AM (12 years, 9 months ago)

So I have 8 pf cakes that are abot 75% colonised and I need fruits in about 21 days for a festival I'm going to. What can I do? I was considering careflly scraping away excess brf and verm. Any other ideas? I will be using a sgfc also. Thanks for any advice

Also should I dunk these cakes to get the uncultured portions off? (Instead of scraping them)

umm im no TC but you should wait, or buy shrooms for this festival. i think this will only bring contams, not to mention that at only 75% colonized cake will be very small after you cut and scrape out the middle to get a viable sample(maybe 1/2 the size or even smaller of a cake) witch would make the time and resources you invested into this would be end results of GUGH,

I wouldn't rush it if I were you, but if you absolutely must have them, then try it out on one or two cakes and give the remaining cakes another week to finish up.  Nothing is set in stone when it comes to fruiting, but you should be able to pull out a flush within two weeks after initiating fruiting conditions.

scraping uncoloninized cake off wont save you any time. let it finish, then let it consolidate for a few days.

I understand that I should wait but these cakes have been in the incbator now for 6 weeks. This is only my second grow ever and know the problems that caused the stalled culure. Poorly mixed brf formula and I packed the jars too much. Also had to lay the jars on the side while sterilizing and that ruined my top 1" of dry verm. Any other ideas? I am attending a music festival in three weeks and need as much fruit as possible.

Until you have experience, have your process down-pat and can grow reliably, I'd suggest a job would be better in terms of income reliability.

Just sayin'

If I was in your shoes, I'd find another way...

As much as it sucks, I never plan for a deadline.

Patience is a virtue, as well as experience. Don't expect nature to cater to your wish(es).

Take care of what you have, and learn from previous mistakes...

Look guys I know I should wait and find another way and be patient and se better technique and gain more experience. Here's the deal, I don't have a ready source of mushies, not gonna buy some bunk shrooms wen I get to the festival like last year so I need help with this. Are there any techniques or advice other than telling me its not the best idea and I need more patience

You got advice, but do what you already new what you were going to do, and hope for the best.
I have heard that if you can find an Asian monkey to pee on them that it will save a little time.
Know any Asian monkeys.

It sounds to me like you are pleading to get an 'ok' which no one really wants to give, because its just not good practice.

But you do have the information you need at your fingertips, and you know the possible results. So why don't you just pull the trigger already and make a decision?

Wait. :2cents:

Or dont wait. :badidea:

Whatever.

lol at this, I feel ya OP but 'tis a bad idea indeed. I've mistreated the shrooms before, many years ago and they left me... What sort of karma do you think this act would bring? If you do it plz post pics, I'd be interested to see

Never meant to offend you, mate.

If they're for eating, buy some and/or take your chances cutting up the cakes, but don't expect anything.

If not, you've miscalculated, and I stand by my previous statement.
