Mass, momentum and energy is conserved in any system.  I like to like to think about the last one, energy.  We are full of energy, and when we die, it must go somewhere.  There are so many forms of energy (kinetic, potential, electricity, heat, etc.).  I think that the energy that is your soul is conserved but it changes form and leaves your body as heat, and other forms of energy.

I look forward to the experience.  One of the most fascinating things to me is that every one of us will experience death, but none of us truly knows what will happen.

So I looked up who that dude was and saw he died @ 32 and my first thought was "Man.. another drug casualty.." but I read on and see the words "Battle with cancer" and tears instantly hit me... god I hate cancer.

Mm turns out pneumonia is what killed him, the chemo weakened him.. Jesus what a fucked up chain of events :frown:

Death was a fantastic band and Chuck Schuldiner was a damn fine guitar player and composer.

RIP Chuck, you are greatly missed in the music world.

i'd love to believe in all of this talk of reincarnation cycles and an eternal spirit that moves on to higher densities or rejoins the source, but i simply don't.

I think what happens is one kind of 'fades out' as they die, to the point where everything goes black and stops. you cease to exist, and thats it, " shows over folks " so to speak.

your consciousness transfers to the spirit world.  I found this out from smoking a mixture of dmt and salvia.

You've inspired me to play some Death songs on guitar which I haven't done in a long time. Kudos!

Hopefully learn one of those frenzied solos too

Same here but there's simply no scientific evidence for it. It sounds too much like a fairy tale. I'd rather be a rational being.

Please refer to my website in my signature for more:

My Distilled Experience of Death

At the moment of death, you effectively "merge" with the ineffable Godhead; the Eternal Universe. Upon entering this state you are greeted by those who were closest to you during your life so as to calm you during the transition; friends, family, etc.

As soon as you are "acclimated" to this new plane, you experience your entire life all over again as one fully interactive moment complete with "teachings" based upon each experience. Highly emotional moments are given the most attention, while relationships and subsequent morality are "judged" by your Self which may manifest as another being; Jesus, Buddha, etc. depending upon your cultural programming.

You effectively realize that your entire life was merely an illusion that you created for yourself: We are all God; the One eternal moment which is the Universe, which recurs eternally as Eternity.

This experience of death is felt to be the longest and most important moment of your life, because it occupies the same temporal position as the entire Universe and subsequently, your entire life. (There is no such thing as time; a flowing time and progressive present moment are the products of our subjective perceptions and underlying neurobiology.)
This experience of Eternity is felt as an overwhelming warmth of love & dissolution which lasts seemingly "forever."

Once the painful beauty of all of this is understood, the will to forget is reached, in order to experience it all over again, anew. This acceptance of Eternity is the Divine Love which permeates throughout the entire experience; it is the Nietzschian yes to life.

Upon this acceptance, you are "directed" towards a bright funnel of light. You acutely understand that you are about come out of the womb again and live the same life all over, anew.

You forget everything, but you choose to. And since we are all God which is Eternity, we actually have no choice.

We live the same life all over again in complete ignorance.

That is the beauty of Life, Love and God.

But how did you become conscious in the first place? Think about it, you're made of atoms, they are not conscious on their own (or are they? :strokebeard2:), yet you are. What I believe this means is that consciousness literally "forms." What that means? I don't really know and never will

But I see nothing wrong with leaving one consciousness and then experiencing another. Not in a "reincarnation" sense, because the new ego and the old ego would have absolutely nothing in common.

well thats an interesting point. at what point from when an embryo is being formed in the womb at the cellular level does it become 'concious'? and what causes it to become concious.

I'm a bit of a sceptic but i think that conciousness is tied to life, in that our brains are being powered by our lungs and heart, and we are experiencing conciousness and functioning, but once the engine grinds to a halt, i am undecided as to what happens and whether or not our conciousness or 'soul' can continue on or be exported out of the body. I guess it's one of lifes great mysteries.

i see nothing wrong with transferring my ego or conciousness either, but i kind of what to hang on to my current life or awareness. because even if your spirit carries on and we get the chance to experience life again, if the memory is whiped, then we are really living again for the first time, and its not really 'you' who survives anyway.

But then again, maybe in that statement im inherently clinging to my ego, and that the real me is not my ego but the soul or life force within me? :strokebeard:

That's what I'm getting at. That's why I described it as something like a lava lamp, if you understood that. You die in one lifetime, after a while of nonexistence eventually the right circumstances take place for a consciousness to form, and by some nearly impossible chance, "you" were just so lucky enough to take ownership of the new consciousness.

The beauty of it all is that no matter what we do, there never will be a way to prove the reality of reality. It exists when we exist to perceive it, but when we lose that ability, does reality cease as well?

Yeah, from this side of the fence, the grass might not be greener, but it's A LOT more calm and serene. There's a certain comfort in nothingness, don't you think?
