Is this a San Pedro Cactus?
    #14472620 - 05/18/11 10:59 AM (12 years, 10 months ago)

First off let me say I wasn't quite sure where to post this, hopefully this forum is close enough.

Secondly I ordered this cactus off of ebay awhile back, it's just been growing in my sun room since.  One thing that always bothered me about the order was that it said "San Pedro COUSIN" not just "San Pedro".  My cactus does look a little different than the San Pedros that show up on google image search.

I'd like to know for certain if this cactus contains any mescalin before I go cutting it up and ingesting it.  Any experts here that could tell me for sure?

The proper place to ask this would have been the Ethnobotanical Garden.

To answer your question; Yes that is a member of the Trichocereus family, by the looks it is a Bridgesii, generally held to be the most potent.

Keep it healthy and you'll be rewarded, if you must cut it leave at least 6" at the base to regrow. Enjoy

That is much better than a San Pedro.  12 inches of that skinny fucker will be better than 12 inches of any San Pedro you'll buy.

Thanks guys! this is good news.

I actually chopped all but 6 inches off yesterday and made some cactus tea (chopped up, blended, boiled, filtered)  It was about 16 inches of cactus overall.  Do you think the juice will be enough to make me trip?

If it is bridgesii as somebody stated then that should be more than enough.

Maybe enough for two?
I don't know I have read some things about those cacti being very potent.

That would be ideal.  My girlfriend wants to try as well but I wasn't sure if there was going to be enough for two people.

I'd do some more reading to determine if you should just split that or add more cactus. I'm sure somebody will pop in with personal experience. I only have experience with san pedro.

Have fun dude!
