Another mold or bruising question

Hello, Firstly, thanks for all of the info I have already learned from this site. These cakes had a rough start as the mycleium colonized the dry verm layer and I decided to rip the dry verm/myc layer off when birthing. Afterwards I read that I could have left the layer on, but... oh well. This leads me to think that it is simply bruising I am seeing, also the smell seems fine as far as I can tell, and the bluing hasn't increased in size in 5 days. I also tried the disputed q-tip test which showed negative, however after rubbing with the q-tip the bluing colour darkened significantly over 15 minutes leading me to again believe its bruising. What does everyone think, this is my first ever attempt, and as you can see is brf/shotgun tek.

Thanks in advance, fingers are crossed!!

Also, I thought I should mention that my cakes dried out quite a bit as my rh kept dropping to 80-85. I taped some holes up and it has been fine since, the rh here is 40 which played a huge factor.

I think it's bruising. But definitely wait for an expert since I'm a n00b. Looks like it's internal + it's blue not green. Blue is good, green would be bad.

Thanks for the quick replies already, good news. The bluing just seems darker then some of the other pics I have seen so I was worried. How do the fruits look, any advice? The stems seem to almost have a woody texture, are they druing out, or is that normal as well?

Those are some VERY nice looking cakes man, congrats. The blue is just bruising from some type of stress,(too wet/dry, handling, etc.)
An easy way to tell weather it is mold or just bruising is to take a magnifying glass and look at the spot in bright light. If the color looks like it is in the myc itself then it is bruising, if the color looks like it is in it's own layer on top of the myc then it is most likely a contam.
Trich looks almost just like mycelium before it matures and releases spores except that it is whiter and has a sandy surface texture. It will cover a cake in a day or two looking like the myc is growing an outer layer and then turn green a day or two after that.

They look good, I can see some condensation on the foil and new pins on the cake with all the bruising. You did the dunk right after birthing didn't you? I don't see a layer of verm. from a roll. Good job, fun times ahead.

I did do a dunk and roll, however I think the verm was too coarse and alot of it fell off. Also, the myc grew overtop of most of the remaining verm.

Cool. Might try grinding some down next time you roll. Smaller = better coverage. Not that it would matter much if the myc engulfs it anyway. Have fun, and keep us posted on the progress.
