Hey everybody, I am planning on 'shroom hunting this spring and summer in the Catskill region of NY state. I am wondering what are the best books for identifying psilocybin 'shrooms and poisonous 'shrooms? Also, when is the best times for going out and finding the shrooms? Thanks.

heh, this question gets asked often it seems.

I asked it last week.

Mushrooms Demystified by David Arora.

it's big, it's bold, but damn if it isn't beautiful.

I went hunting and bought it later that night and
was able to identify 5 of the 10 or so species that
I found.

the only reason I couldn't ID the rest was because
I was too lazy to print them.

it's a phenomenal book!

A. H. Smiths book is specifically for Mushrooms of the eastern seaboard. ALso Jopseph Amiratti's Poisonous and edible Mushrooms of the Eastern United States.

Remember that Arora lives in Claifornia and his book was mainly at first allPNW and northern claifornia . However, many of the shrooms he writes baout grow across the USA in the northern hemisphere.

S for specific locations, those guides i noted are the best for the Northeastern USA.

have a shroomy day.
