BRF and Verm jars with no growth and compacting substrate???

I have been growing for a little while, and have had many proud successes... until this last attempt. I did everything as I normally do, and for some reason, it appears that the substrate mixture has compacted somehow, and jars that were filled to the top, are now 3/4 to 1/2 way full of substrate, with 0 percent mycelium growth. And this batch was sterilized and put in for incubation the last week of march
out of 11 jars, I have 1 that has very sparse mycelium growth, and is taking forever to grow.
Does anyone have any idea what the cause of this could be? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

perhaps you didnt wait long enough after sterilization? that happens to me a little bit? I'd restart with less watery substrate if your not using wide mouth jars.

I use the tall jars and go the PF tek to the "t" when I do it. As far as your jars compacting, it sounds like you might look at them a lot? maybe they are compacting due to handling...

hmmmmmm, well I wait at least 2 weeks to check them out after inoculation... and after I sterilize, I let them sit all night, or day, before I even touch the pressure cooker, to assure they are at room temp before get them out. . . .... I tie
