E. novogranatense- lower oxygen simulates altitude..??

So I've read in a lot of forums etc that E. novogranatense grows better at high altitude, as far as I know there is less oxygen at higher elevations (hence altitude sickness etc). Anyone know if depriving them of oxygen to an extent will simulate this effect? I have a sexy plant going (8-9" tall, 11 leaves).
I have been keeping a plastic bottle over the pot to retain humidity, I remove the cap for a few hours a day for FAE. Anyone tried depriving them of O2 to stimulate growth/alkaloid production? (I know I'm not likely to have any real levels of alk. til 9 months+). I know that too little O2 will be bad, I was just wondering..

Also, more UV up there.

Indeed.. Well said. Might try hitting it with some intense UV/UVA.

They exhale oxygen. It's a waste product to plants.
EDIT: and if you deprive them of CO2, they'll generally stop growing. (The carbon from all sugars comes directly from the air)

Also, isn't there lower atmospheric pressure at high elevations? That one will be difficult to simulate.

While higher altitudes may have lower levels of oxygen, that doesn't necessarily mean that the low levels of oxygen promote higher levels of growth. Also realize that by limiting its air exchange so drastically, you're reducing its exposure to essential compounds it receives from the air.
even if CO2 is overrated,
correlation vs causation suh
