so this is my second grow (that is actually working) and i did 6 1/4 pint and 6 1/2 pint jars my 1/4 pints are working incredibly well considering there half the size of whats recommended in the pf tek but my question is my 1/2 pint jars are creeper strain and there about 45/50% done colonization now 5 are normal and fine but the last one is about 45% done and looks to be fighting something off (quite a bit of yellow myc piss not enough to toss but enough to keep a eye on) yet near the top its pinning all ready i think its been about 2 and a half maybe 3 weeks since inoculation now im not sure why it would pin but is this going to be a issue to me it looks like the jar will need at least another 2 weeks befor its fully ready but i dont know what i should do with the pins i dont wana open the jar yet i fear if i leave the pins they will ither grow and screw up my cake or rot and again screw up my cake any advice from my fellow shroomers would be wonderfull

I grow Keepers Creeper and when i do PF jars they pin in the jar on a regular basis. So maybe it has something to do with the strain. I just pluck the pin off after they consolidate and move on. I think you mentioned myc piss too, not sure if the cakes are old enough for that could be excess water turning it yellow and slowing down colonization.

When I get invitro pins I pop that sucker right in the SGFC. If it isn't fully colonized I use a flame/stove burner sterilized butter knife or spoon to scrape away the uncolonized part. I know everyone says that it will definitely contam but mine havn't.
It won't hurt to let them grow to full maturity in the jar if you want, if it has myc piss it is probably fighting off a bacterial contam, you can fruit bacterial contamed cakes without worrying because it does not spread like mold does with spores. About the only way you will contam another cake with a bacterial contam from another cake is to touch the cakes together or touch the contamed one and then touch another one.
Every time I have had invitros when it wasn't fully colonized the cake has stalled and done nothing but grow the invitros. I am not recommending that you birth it b4 full consolidation but that is what I do in that situation. If you wait another week and it hasn't turned green and has no funny smell then it is probably bacteria and safe to keep around. If you see green or anything else that doesn't look like myc piss I would chuck it into the woods.
For example if you see something like this growing off of it get rid of it immediately!

Pics would help allot! POST PICS!

Here is a pic of some invitros I grew, if you look at the pic you can see a big chunk on the bottom right where I removed the uncolonized part.(with my finger none the less, not recommended though)

Verm is not a very good casing, anyway they say you should always fruit cakes as cakes, although I have had success from crumbling 7 cakes to a little left over coir in a tray and let it colonize 10 days. If you are going to make them into a sub you will need some coir or something to mix them with. Casing a cake with another cake is just silly, if they are two different sub-strains it will just be more genetics competing for dominance.
I am not sure if I understood that one right, you are going to case a cake with another different cake?? If you are going to fruit it just pop it in the SG on some foil or a jar lid after rinsing it off. When the invitro pins mature in a few days then you can dunk and roll after you pick them.
You can and should put some verm on cakes but when you say case I think of fully colonized bulk, cakes usually just get sprinkled with verm, casing is what you do to a tray that is fully colonized and mixed with poo coir or some other substrate.

I never fruit cakes as cakes anymore havent for over ten plus years lol. I crumble them and case with verm or spawn them to bulk. Go to my gallery i have some great pinsets on a couple in there. They are keepers creeper too.

well update i checked all my kreeper jars and they ALL have pins one has a good 2 inch pin which is just silly cause there no where near being done.. only 50% tops so why the hell they pinning all rdy i also have some golden teacher that had to sit in the FC for almost 14 days and im just seeing pins now
and as for casing yes i was gona throw a kreeper with a Brazilian (since i only have the one jar ) but i dont think il bother now cause all my kreepers are pinning and i just dont understand there in a dark area no light cept when i check em and almost no air exchange i mean im all for super pinning hjell they can pin all they want i just rather have them fully colonized and dunked first
