My first time growing.... Mycology has always fascinated me and I've always been interested in growing. It wasn't until a few months ago when a friend attempted and failed that I said to myself,"this cant be too hard." I began reading and watching everything I could find on the subject of Mycology. "Pf Tek",and other assorted videos were readily available on youtube. I soaked all the information in,along with handbooks and many tips from the infamous,"Roger Rabbit". I purchased two"Golden Teacher" syringes from shrooms n more. Reading really good reviews on this particular strain influenced my decision. Two weeks later I received my spores. Ecstatic to begin my new hobby I headed down to the nearest hardware store where I purchased a few items;10 mason '"Ball" wide mouth jars, organic vermiculite and purlite (terrarium humidity generator). I also picked up a bag of organic brown rice which I later ground to a fine powder for the preparation of the substrate.I found grinding your rice is much better as it retains all the essential oils which get lost in the factory process. I prepared the substrate according to a Pf Tek' recipe. I packed the jars lightly and sterilized them for an hour and a half in a steam pot. When the jars were fully cooled the next morning I sterilized the syringe needles with a naked flame and began the inoculation process. Roughly 4 weeks later I see life. I birthed all the cakes but one, rolled them in verm and placed them in a terrarium. Here are a few pictures. I will continue posting pictures as the days go by. As my children continue growing...........Thank you....FERaL FIEND

I agree, so gratifying. I know there are a lot of people who are self-sufficient enough to learn from the board and never decide to post, but it is nice to see the results of people who can take the time to learn and look before making a post about what WBS stands for.
Well done, Feral. Time to find a pressure cooker on the cheap and try out some grain!

you haven't gotten a flush yet but you have found grinding your own rice is better than pre-ground?
i've never heard of someone drawing conclusions from a test with 0 data points.

My friend used factory substrate and failed. From what I could tell the rice flour was dry and oil free. The organic rice flour I ground and used was fresh, moist full of nutrients. IN MY OPINION I BELIEVE.

That one guy looks like it may end up being a big, veiny, triumphant bastard.

Very nice grow! I will be following closely as SWIM's Pink Buffalo grow is just a little behind yours. Also SWIM tried Golden Teacher once before but really screwed up when a freak heat wave overheated the jars in the upstairs bedroom.
Keep up the good work!
