soaking wbs in gypsum

after i cleaned the wbs it is now soaking in hot water for the night
i never tried this before but is it a good idea to put some gypsum in the water while it soaks?  how much gypsum?

Yes.  Gypsum makes calcium and sulfur available to the mycelium. 

Both are beneficial for mushrooms in all stages of growth.  I place agriculture grade, powdered gypsum in the soak water, just after the rinse at 3-5% by volume of dry grains.

Not sure what 3-5% of the volume of the grains are dry?  Measure your grains out before the soak and type the problem into google's search engine.

they are submerged in the pot right now in hot water they have been soaking for about 3 hours now...should i just throw in a bit of gypsum powder into the water? 3-5% of gyspum in relation to all the grains about 7 quarts? i can eye it out i dont think it needs to be precise

I soak all my WBS in a 5 gallon bucket.  I put a tablespoon and there is usually still alot that is undissolved at the bottom. 

Same when I boil/simmer my wbs.  I put in a tablespoon and still get alot undissolved.

ok well  i just put some in probly more than table spoon. will their be problems if their is to much gypsum?
