Melbourne Identification Request
    #14465033 - 05/16/11 09:48 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

After only small finds over the last couple days I came across this lot in parkland, growing on woodchips found under a mix of gum and eucalyptus trees.

Habitat:
Found in parkland, north-east Melbourne. Specimens were growing on wood chips.

Gills:
Colour - Tan brown (similar to cap colour)
From my understanding they are attached, if only slightly

Stem:
Between 4 and 8cm in length, diameter 0.5-1cm, texture is fibrous. The stem is hollow and is a dark brown colour inside.

Cap:
2-7cm diameter
Tan brown to golden brown in colour (majority). A few are chestnut brown.
Smooth texture.
Convex to broadly convex

Spore print color:
Waiting on results

Bruising:
Bluish.

These were also among the harvest but have been weeded out under suspicion that they are non-active. Can anyone confirm this to be true? What do you think they are?

nice
in regards to the suspicious ones, i think some of them (if not all) are subs (i can see a bit of blueing, they just look a bit dry), try pinch them and see if there's any blueing on those (might take longer than the fresher looking ones)

Hehe that was only about a third of what was there! Heading back tomorrow to check on the progress of the pins.

No spore print as of yet. Hopefully have one ready by the end of the night, albeit a little feint.

Thanks for the advice Pauly, will keep a good eye on em

Spore print of typical specimen. Looking pretty good to me!
