One of my friends told me that he takes xanny bars every day. I was just wondering if any of you knew what that was? Or what it feels like when people do it. Just wondering why he would want to be taking it every day aha.

He's taking alprazolam. It's really addictive so that's probably why he takes it every day.

Xanex is a benzodiazepine, it's a type of drug that makes you more calm and relaxed. Valium and Klonopins are also brand names of other benzos.

Dr's prescribe them to people for a variety of reasons but they're basically chill pills. They make you more calm and loose.

And it's spelt Xanax. It's an anti-anxiety medication. It can feel good at lower doses, but tolerance builds up VERY fast.

I know lots of people that abuse Xanax...

It's an escape to dealing with their problems, IMO.

Alprazolam, which is a benzodiazepine. Closest thing to a chill pill imo. Used to treat sleeping disorders, anxiety disorders, panic disorders, and is somewhat of a mood stabilizer. It has a quick onset and should only be taken as needed. Not everyday. I was prescribed klonopin which is a longer acting benzo for almost a year and I was taking them everyday. Eventually tapered down and cut them out completely. I had hard physical withdrawals for a week and it took months to get my sleeping schedule back to normal. Definitely not something to make a habit out of. Worse withdrawals than opiates IMO. Tell him to be careful.

Now that I think of it, so are a lot of other things.

Like posting at a message board too much or smoking copious amounts of weed.

Not always the case.. Some people deal with unnatural amounts of stress whether it be at home or work or both and still need to function to provide for themselves. Unnatural stress on the brain may call for an unnatural remedy. If you have a broken arm put it in a cast while it heals.. Run your brain in overdrive for a prolonged amount of time and it might just get stuck in overdrive. Not always an escape. Exercise, yoga, meditation, herbs, yada yada are always better but some people due to circumstance just don't know any better.
