Yes, yes it is. Understanding why a particular photon manifests wavelike effects vs particle effects is somewhat less useful.

Carefully reading a book (The Physics of Stargates) that's helping me understand some of that. But, man, I gotta re-read the deep stuff about parallel universes, 'cause it blows my mind!

derivative is the rate of change. integral is the area under the curve.
you're 20% done.

watch the nova episode. i'm sure the book goes a lot more in depth, but it's like 3 hours. one of the best doc's i've seen on the subject. you can watch it online on pbs's nova website too.

Calculus 101
∫kxndx=k∫xndx=kxn+1/(n+1)+C
Its essentially the opposite of derivatives. I spent last summer reading calculus and how it relates to real life situations like radioactive decay or water leaking out of broken barrels and shit Its quite fun
Now do this 2x0.5

I can't understand math for a fucking second... I left High School in Geometry and had a hard time with that
It just makes NO sense to me.

Probably cause you had a bad teacher. I've taught myself a bunch of stuff and it was fucking hard sitting down trying to understand the concept behind stuff like complex numbers and integration etc. But once you get the basics it all builds up easily on it afterwards.
I think amphetamines are good for maths. Pimps you brain n shit.

Gotta have the right teacher a good memory. Because if you dont have a solid fuckin memory and you do not use the math everyday like most people do not. You will lose the knowledge.

What I like about maths is that you dont really have to remember much. Just some basic rules, a couple of formulas and you can suck the rest out of your fingers. The lazy mans way

I have a hard time with things I can't touch I suppose..
and I forget what mathemetician (sp?) it was but he said if you stared at a blank piece of paper sober, nothing would come, but if he took amphetamines a million ideas would implant themselves on the paper, all he had to do was write.

some people are just not wired for math, with myself being one of them. i excel at assimilating and analyzing chunks of data, writing and dealing with abstract philosophical concepts, but i struggle with math. it takes a specific type of mind to be good at it, like anything else.

As a kid I was REALLY creative but as I got older it seemed like I was more "in the middle" as far as the left brain VS right brain thing goes... so I'm incredibly average at both "logic thinking" and "creative thinking"... I'm weird

i think it's more of a problem solving mindset than anything. it's the engineer mentality versus the philosopher mentality, so to speak. neither are superior to the other. i wish i was better at math and definitely admire people with that ability, but when i talk to my friends who work in heavily math driven fields, they sometimes learn from me when we get into more philosophical territory.

Yeah well I can spout shit about "philosophy" all day but in the end I don't really "know" a fucking thing. Math is the opposite, math is proof, at least some times... that's why I wish I was better at it.
