Security Risk at Facebook?
    #14462489 - 05/16/11 02:43 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

So I just recently re-activated my Facebook after a few months off.  I updated my email info on there and this morning received an e-mail saying some dude I havent talked to in years posted on my wall.

I logged on the other day just fine but in trying to go to the site today firefox is telling me the security certificate is wrong.

Saying it belongs to alkaimed.net or something weird like that, certificate issued by cyberglobalroot or some shit.

While typing the above out i went back and facebook worked, however the comment is not on my wall.  In my e-mail it was "(my name) wtf are you doing in this vid?"  with a bogus link.

This is exactly the sort of bullshit that made me deactivate my acct in the first place.  I guess I should change all my passwords and shit now?  Anybody know of anything like this?  Did this post make sense?

it's the koobface virus or the w00t.exe virus.

Do a sweep of your computer.

Also, if someone randomly messages you using l33t, don't click the shiny button.

Was it a "0MG, I c@n't b3l1eve 1 c@n C whoz check1ng my @cct?!?!?!"?

Tsk, tsk... you should know better.

Facebook itself is the actual security risk

It was

"What are you doing in this video?!"  with a youtube link.

I didn't actually click on the link as I recognized it as garbage, I was more concerned about firefox telling my that facebook.com had the wrong security certificate.

i agree with u. i got a buddy in college studying criminal justice. he has told me that facebook is one of the first place's  "the man"  looks when they are watching you. and if u say certain words, even in private messages and chat they are red flagged and looked at closer. facebook is snithbook for people not smart enough to keep there mouth shut. well that is what i think atleast

You honestly think facebook is not monitored?  Just like the iPhone doesn't transmit and store gps coordinates and Google didn't steal any private information from unprotected wifi systems?

I do believe that the feds could use fb to obtain info on a target. However, they're looking for the big fish, not the small-timers. Use common sense; don't talk about what you don't want seen in any avenue, be it Shroomery, fb, email, phones, etc...

I just think its much more widespread, you gotta look at it like the state and local officials probably use it as well not just the feds.  But yeah I agree, Darwin always wins.

There are almost 7 billion people on this planet. Why are you so important to be singled out by the Feds to be spied on? Unless you're selling large amounts of drugs or selling weapons to terrorists, then you don't really have anything to worry about. Well, if you're doing that, then you're working FOR the feds

yeah, i don't think discussing going over to a buddy's house to trip in private or chat on fb is going to mobilize the feds against anyone. i guess if you distribute it's not a good idea, but for the average jerk off who likes to occasionally take drugs, i don't think it's an issue.
