"The Effects of Nuclear Weapons" or "Great Deals at Used Book Stores"
    #14462431 - 05/16/11 02:34 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

This is a cross-post from OTD, but I figured it might get a different response here.

-----

So I stopped by one of my favorite used book stores on the way home from the bank today and happened upon this little gem that was used as an Air Force and Army field manual in 1960's:

The Effects of Nuclear Weapons - 1962

Bought it for $8.00, which would have been nothing special, but this actually includes the original (in great condition) "Nuclear Bomb Effects Computer", which is an awesome little circular slide rule for determining the effects of nuclear blasts at varying yeilds.  The book isn't particularly rare, but when it actually includes the original "computer" and instructions it can sell for over $100.

Value aside, this little book is full of fascinating info.  Used bookstores FTW!
