Nope, they shouldn't be illegal. Just like other drugs shouldn't be illegal.

how illegal are you talking anyway? like getting arrested and brought down to the police station for having a pack of cigarettes? or getting a ticket?
I can't imagine anyone supporting anything that makes you a criminal for smoking a damn cigarette, or using any other tobacco product for that matter.
can you imagine getting cuffed and thrown into the back of a squad car while they talk to you like you're the scum of the earth because you got pulled over and the cop smelled smoke, searched your car, found your cigs and busted your ass. fuck that. even a ticket and having your cigs confiscated would be completely ridiculous. adults should not be treated like children. telling people what they are and aren't allowed to ingest (whether by smoking or eating or whatever) is giving wayyyy too much power to the government to take away freedoms because its in your best interest and they're trying to save us from ourselves. fuckkk thattt.
i can't stand it when people try to save other people from themselves with shit like this. its just as unhealthy to binge on fast food and potato chips and ice cream and end up weighing 600 lbs. should they ban unhealthy food? people should be able to make their own damn decisions about what they put into themselves. pretty much anything you can find on the open market will hurt you if you have too much, too regularly.

making cigarettes illegal would just create an enormous black market for them. there is already a huge black market that produces, distributes, and sells very cheap cigarettes packaged as brand name cigarettes. the bootleg cig business is already thriving. they'll just step up their game if cigarettes were made illegal, and smokers will end up with low quality product that would do more damage and cause more cancer without a doubt.

I've never seen anyone trying to re-package homemade cigarettes as brand-name. What would be the point? Loose leaf tobacco is almost invariably better quality, with few if any additives. It would be stupid to do it instead of just creating your own rogue cigarette brand consisting of some kind of blend. It would be easy to make a killing since you could bring the cost down to about $1 and some change per pack.
Just hang around outside the gas station and intercept the customers there to buy cigarettes.

I'm not talking about rolling your own cigarettes. I'm talking about factory made packs of cigs that look almost identical to the real packs but contain shitty cigs. this isn't something a couple random guys do in their garage or basement. its actually a pretty big industry.
who the hell would buy a pack of cigs just from some guy anyway, especially if it didn't have the shrink wrap anymore, or was poorly re-shrinkwrapped.
these are sold in ghetto corner stores and bodegas. they're definitely not bought and then repackaged with handrolled cigarettes. that'd be so insanely stupid seeing as how packs of decent brands are 7.50 minimum around here. it makes no sense.

A lot of people. Buying things from some guy is pretty common.

It wouldn't be that stupid. There are no decent store-bought brands. There are inexpensive machines anyone can buy to inject cigarettes that look identical to a factory cig, they do not have to be rolled by hand. It would appeal to people, especially if they were stuffed into something nice and sort of unique, like this:

true. it just wouldn't be economical to buy expensive cigarettes only to toss them, or smoke them yourself.. then fill the pack with your home made cigs and sell it for significantly cheaper than what you paid for the original pack or carton. Sure the tobacco might be without additives and possibly much higher quality, depending on what kind you use in your rollies.. but you would only lose money paying for real packs to make fake ones.
the whole point of the scam is to make fake packs that look as similar as possible to marlboro, camel, newport packs, and then fill those with rollies. I just really don't think many people are doing this by hand, making one cigarette at a time. after all the hours of making cigs the profit probably wouldn't be worth your time anymore.
I apologize for the misunderstanding though. I'm talking about scammers who claim to be legit cigarette distributors and sell dozens of cartons at a time to actual stores who think they're buying cartons of malboros, camels, newports, or whatever.

I'm curious about these guys now.
Mostly where they get tobacco, how the cigarettes and packages are made, what the operation looks like, etc.

There is no reason that cigarettes should be ok for human consumption.
Thoughts?
Okay. So how far should we go with this? Make Alcohol illegal? Causing Dwi's, death's, poisening, kidney failure.. clogging our hospitals. etc.
Chocolate cake illegal? Causing diabetes, over-weight issue's, taking up hospital resources? etc.
Soda? Coffee? Energy Drinks? TV? Internet? Medications?
How far can we go?
You are feeding control. and that's
