Your last photo is a Laccaria sp. I think.
You'll probably need to print the Panaeolus and post an ID request.

fungus.amongus said: Thats an amazing find if it is active, tryptonite! Any one finding any in pines yet?? Seems most of the finds are euchalypt..? Going for a hunt today, gonna check both, see what I can find
I found a couple in some pine/eucalypt/bracken fern area last week. I have been finding em where there is abit of water nearby, Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
same, everytime! went to three different patches yesterday, a certain pine forrest down south didnt turn out any, only found 7 all up from eucalypt patches, gave them all to a mate for his first trip

bad luck mate, one of the other patches I know got raided and partly destroyed big time. Shame.
this pic shows the bluing a little better, both of those big ones went blue from stem to cap. Craziest bluing I've ever seen. So much variation in subs as well, some were light and others almost brown on the caps, had to be very vigilant of look alikes.

ahk ive heard of those being around, i reckon ive found a few in-active panaeolus species before but only me judging from a quick glance never realy picked any or tried to i.d em. what bout the panaeolus subbalteatus? also im very certain they dont grow here but whats the slight chance that psilocybe subaeruginascens here? i know there very identical in habitat and spore print and so but i swear ive found a bunch of wavy capped subs that always look a tiny bit different to normal psilocybe subaeruginosa any help would be apreciated! cheers

wavy capped subs are fairly regular, about half of my finds today where the wavy sort, there just normal subs though. It's just where your hunting and what the habitat is like that changes the color and small variations in appearance. I think the age of the mushroom itself is important as well, some tend to get that wavy look in maturity.

yes officially it has not been identified anywhere is Australia except in NSW and that reference was from mushroom johns book I recall. but there are quite a few posts and photos of Australian subbalteatus including ones from SA.
heres some SA subbs, NSW subbs
don't quote me on this but I think subaeruginascens grow in the opposite season to subs, spring to summer? so if you find something blueing in the spring or summer definitely get it to a mycologist for analysis
