I feed them with standard liquid houseplant food.
As for the age, I should really keep some records, I would guess the smaller one is 7 weeks and the larger more like 15 weeks. The larger yopo tree is 23 Inches or 58.5 cm tall. See this post for more information. HERE

I've got a 3 week old plant myself, and I must say, these a re wonderfull!! The laves are very similar to a tree (i dunno the name though) that grows around here.. I'll try to get a pic once spring is nicely set in!! the seeds are the same, though... I'll try germinating a few I collected in fall!

http://www.csp.org/nicholas/Yopo.html

Then, without further ritual, he demonstrated that we should snort the powder up both nostrils simultaneously using a forked tube.

It felt like splinters of glass hitting the back of my mouth, but I dutifully followed the mimed instructions to massage it into my nostrils and snort some more. Then I sat with my back leaning against a pole, took some deep breaths and waited...

I saw the shaman and his friend having a conversation on their own, but also noticed that everyone's bodies were offset at about waist level. I was not aware of being under the influence of any drug; it was simply that their top halves were all shifted a bit to one side. That's odd, I thought, and closed my eyes. That was a shock. What I saw was the same whether my eyes were open or closed! Next I heard a male voice speaking to me in English. He was speaking clearly and softly right into my left ear and seemed absolutely real. What's more, he was giving me an important personal message, although later I was unable to recall any of it.

I was no longer able to be the observer, and had no way of telling what was 'real'. My 'normal' state of reference had been undermined and this made me feel panicky... I had been prepared to 'face my deepest fears', but not this! However, any fear quickly dissolved into sheer amazement. This probably lasted for some time, although I cannot remember the content, as I eventually regained enough consciousness to find my mouth hanging wide open and completely dried up inside.

I then recalled that I had vomited straight out in front of me without any problem, and felt physically OK. This was quite an achievement as I had spent several previous ayahuasca sessions struggling against nausea. Maybe yopo was the answer for me.

With my consciousness back in control, I decided to explore where I was going, and to steer the course into introspection. Geometric patterns, visions and consciousness of a presence came and went, which my internal dialogue described to me like a bored sports commentator, but there was no story line that I could follow. I shook myself and tried again, but the experience was all too fast and fragmented for me to get a handle on.

WOW.. Sorry to be so straight, But how much plant material do you need? Is it easy to extract. I know almost nothing about other plants. Thanks in advance.

I have both a colubrina and peregrina. I'm not sure at the moment which is which but one has smaller and finer leaves. They are both over a year old and the one with the larger leaves has gotten fairly large in a 3 gallon pot. I've noticed that neither one likes full sun all day. They prefer partial sun or shade. I really need to take some pics. Is it easy to upload pics here?

Pea innoculant, partial sun, and some loving. I'm stumped if that doesn't work.

That is beautiful!!

I had some seeds that I attempted to grow.  Nicked the skins, and used the damp paper towel method until the root thingie popped out.  Most molded, the few that remained, had their shell carefully removd, and were planted.  Only one popped out of the soil, and the tips of the plant were black (genetic defect?).  I took the best care I could of it, and it made it another month or two, but it finally perished.  I'd like to try again if I find more seeds sometime though.

I also have a yopo plant. It's about 7 inches high now. It made the first set of leaves last year, and then waited out a winter outdoors before returning to put out more leaves. It's doing great now in partial sun. It seems pretty hardy. I haven't done anything special to it to make it grow. But then, I have a greenthumb's intuition about plants and I move them around at times when I get the feeling. It's a pretty plant.

Some people mentioned some trees that look like this. We have one around the block. I think it is a Lignum vitae. Very pretty and primordial looking.
