Polyporus squamosus
    #14457026 - 05/15/11 03:42 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I just wanted to say that I fried up some polyporus squamosus last night with my eggs and it was delicious. Every time I have gone hunting in the past two weeks I have found them. I hope that everyone hunting is not overlooking this mushroom because if you cook it properly it makes a good meal.

Happy Hunting

I see tons of them everywhere, but I don't really like the smell of them so I haven't tried em.

They kinda smell like playdough or something.

I questioned whether or not I should eat them because I heard that they don't have a good taste. I came to the conclusion that people just don't know how to cook because I thought that they were a fantastic edible.

Good thing I wasn't allergic to them, because I ate a lot.

A mistake of a noob... they were too tasty not to eat though

I cook them up with butter and salt and was not too impressed. Another time I fried them in a besan flour batter with some spices and they were delicious. From my experience, the smaller the dryad saddle the better the flavor and texture.
