Downloading computer games online

Isnt that the most awesome thing ever?
Thank god for all the people making the ISO and giving us the cracks. I recently downloaded The Sims 3.
Internet piracy is the best thing that ever happened.
When is the last time you actually bought music/video games for your PC?

its not like they will take you to jail or anything. most likely just get a letter from the ISP saying to stop or you'll be fined and lose your service.

exactly the point, there is very little risk at all in downloading torrents. I know one guy who got a letter from comcast about downloading a Bruce Lee movie and two episodes of House. Every single person I know downloads whatever they want, whenever they want and never get caught.

really because i remember people going to court over music and videos. So its really all about how they are feeling that particular time of the month. So when you go around giving advice, its best not to say things like "its not like" or "most likely" because when it happens well there mostly not going to be pleased. you guys are about 10 years late to the scene, the golden years are over. You honestly think your just going to keep ignoring them and nothing will happen...right. these are corporations and entire new job markets being paid to find you, not customs who confiscated your waterbong.

The golden years? Just because no one was getting in trouble I would not say that was the golden years.
Besides get yourself on a nice private tracker a get yourself a seed box. Now that is golden, then the only thing your ISP sees is someone downloading from a server via FTP.
Never did like dealing with newgroups and IRC, Kazaa and gnutella clients where a virus fest. Napster was pretty kick ass.
I think the golden years are here.

Riiight. Ten years late to the downloading scene and missing the golden years? You must be joking. I'll take my private torrent tracker downloading through an encrypted VPN any day over that unprotected public orgy known as napster. Do you know anyone that has ever had anything substantial happen because of pirating? You hear about these stories on the news of old ladies getting hit with hundred thousand dollar lawsuits and it is meant to scare you away. It works like anti drug propaganda and apparently it works for you.

i am talking about private trackers, and peerblock. and yes i think people getting shutdown would be a good marker for an end of an age wouldn't you? and i said you were 10 years late to the scene, not that 10 years ago was better.
The only thing i havn't heard of was your seed box, your talking about renting a server to do the downloading for you? how exactly does that solve anything? your name is still linked to it.
and people being sued is a scare tactic? i think its both.

Yeah I'll download allot of games but I find allot of them aren't really worth my money after all and I would be disappointed if I had actually paid money for them.. I have bought games in the past (civilization 5 is a prime example) and have been very disappointed.. now I always download them first. It really does make their flashy hyped advertising kinda useless if you get to try it first and see what its really like, although I'm normally not one to buy into those things anyways.
If the game is really good then yeah I wanna support the developers so they can continue making good games and I'll go out and buy it.

You can rent a seed box for around 10 bucks a month in some don't give a shit country such as the Netherlands. You can use a prepaid card on it or other means of anonymous payment. It does all the uploading and downloading for you. To get your torrents you use FTP to connect to the seedbox. It is a bit early for me but there are ways to connect anomalously to that seed box also.
peerblock and other ip block lists are not really going to protect you. Sure it might help bit it is not fool proof.

but up until now private trackers and block lists were the going thingz. You poll the people who torrent and how many are going to have seed boxes and vpns that you just happened to google up? I say google up because you didn't know how to connect to this seed box annonmous.
so anyways thats besides the point, most people are doing this in a way that they will get caught thats the point hence the post above mine. You get caught "enough" times and eventually they will do something. So lets say you move onto these more advanced methods, then down the road if you get caught suddenly your not just pirating your using all these advanced techniques and oversea's, ect ect, i imagine they will find something in all of that to push a stiffer penalty. Which brings me back to you getting caught, there's got to be lots of pressure on isp's to directly monitor there customers, they've already been a little news about them releasing customer info to them.

I have never used a seedbox but I have looked into them at times over the year. That is why I don't know it all 100%
I have had not had to use one, I am also hung over just barely awake and have food in front of me.
Don't be an smart ass idiot that thinks they know me kid.
If I did google it don't you think I would have know how to log in anonymously?
