We have baseball to blame for this little bit of characteristic American political stupidity . . . and probably the Bible for the rest of it.

I guess they're aiming to take the prison population from 2 million to 3 million. We already imprison twice as many people as China, which has five times the population.

Nostalgia rush or what!

That site is sponsored by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers. I was a shop steward for a while in the good ole Marxist-Leninist CUPW. I wore the T-shirts saying "Management Sucks" and "The Struggle Continues", walked the picket lines (and got arrested while doing so), filed literally thousands of grievances against Canada Post for contract violations... the whole nine yards.

Good times, good times.

Gosh now here's a thought.

Perhaps people shouldn't steal.

Nahhh. Way too radical an idea. :smirk:

Been tried. It failed. Then we tried softer punishments which resulted in murders and rapists being let out of jail too soon. (Willie Horton for one) That didn't work either. So now we have people with rap sheets longer than they are. At some point you must send these scumbags to jail.

A simpler way.....
people should be free to do whatever they wish as long as it harms no-one.

Steal or do harm.... jail for a long fucking time.

Oh I think we can do better than that. Did you forget Herr Klinton? The real advocator of this travesty of American jurisprudence?

Thank God for Herr Klintone! Sieg Heil!

America is gone, but it is part of the big picture. The big pic is that there has to be a uniting of all nations world wide. One way to do this is to place as many people as you can in prison or kill them. America has to be changed into another slave state, or third world nation in order for this to really happen. Sure there will be many people in the USA that are clear, and will resist,but... This must take place so that a central figure can come into power and basically rule the world. This person will NOT, I repeat NOT be like Hitler in the aspect of killing many innocent people. People will feel like this person is actually Jesus come back to the earth. That will be false of course. And after a few years this person will begin to kill many christians and destroy the Vatican City. Of course this will only make people more confused about what is going on and truth will become rare.

Its not good, I am not looking forward to it, but it has to happen.

It makes little difference if you think I am right or whatnot. The proof will be in the pudding.

All I can say is please, please do not take and microchips or physical marks on your hands or forehead. Even if you will not be able to buy food with out them. It would be better to die outright, than to take these marks.

I share a similar future veiw. But we might well destroy ourselves before, anyone comes to world power. People are too stupid to work together for a common good, so with todays current situation, i believe we cannot continue for much longer. We are beset by an ancient chinesse curse "may you live in interesting times."

My advice to people who are at risk for a third strike:
STOP BREAKING THE FUCKING LAW!!!!

--------------------
"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience." - C.S. Lewis

It wouldn't matter to me how many "strikes" i had for smoking pot, or some other "illegal" activity i consider my right.  What about say.....traffic offenders? its easy to say stop breaking the law, but most of these people dont deserve to have thier life, and freedom totally fucked with.

If murderers and rapists are being let out too soon, then obviously the punishment didn't fit the crime. The reason so many of them are being let out early is cuz the prisons are being overcrowded with drug offenders.

Well they weren't just using drugs which is a victimless crime. They were stealing. There is a victim when you steal and it obviously wasn't the first time. Life imprisonment is a little overboard though.

...just a little... :smirk:

No, but really, i support harsh penalties for hurtful crimes, but every circumstance for every crime is different. And until we start looking at every case singularily people will be "generalised" into the criminal group most appropriate...or whatever theres space for!
