tattoo woes

So I waited almost 3 weeks to go back in and get my tattoo finished and shaded. It's pretty big and detailed, right on my left ribs. I tried staying for the entire thing the first time but got to a point where I had to stop.
I drank too much last night and woke up hungover. BAD IDEA. I only got half the shading done before the pain got me dizzy and shaking. This rib tattoo has made my other 2 arm tattoos (one on the inside of my bicep) feel like gentle massages in comparison.
Now since I have to come back AGAIN, I will have to wait all over again and go through the healing process again. The worst part is that I'm moving back to NJ at the end of the month so I'll have to make a trip all the way back to NC to finish it next month or so. Then I'll have to wait 2 weeks to swim or go in the sun.

Maybe other drugs are in order? Opiates or a lot of cannabis?

I don't imagine smoking weed would help at all, though I will be taking a benzo next time hopefully. Honestly I didn't see myself ending the session after an hour but the pain was really intense.. sent warm shivers through my body. I always thought people were over-exaggerating about rib tats
Here's how it is right now.. all that's left are the red roses

yeah, getting a rib tattoo hungover definitely doesn't sound a good idea. Weed doesn't sound good either, at least I get physically very sensitive with it, opiates I don't know but might probably help.
About the 2 weeks, you know it's worth the waiting Where I live it's already beach time, and we have beach and I'm just thinking about doing one next month I've wanted to tattoo some morning glories on my shoulder/armlock, but I didn't have that type of money meanwhile so I dropped it, now I do I just can't stop thinking about it, and probably won't be satisfied until I get it done.
Plus I have 4 or 5 months of warm weather so who cares tattooing is an unique experience

Dude - a lot of tattoo artists prefer that you do this anyway. For them, and you. It's quite normal, don't worry about it. It's just a WIP.
