Doesn't seem like either could be a disorder of sleep, since so little sleep is taking place in people who we say have those disorders.

I have had sleep paralysis before and it is pretty freaky. It always happens the same way, during times when I was doing lots of coke or stimulants.
I start falling asleep and you know that part where you just doze off. You go from awake to thinking about random things and sometimes you snap back awake. I would get to this point and instead of either sleeping or awaking, I would get that butterfly feeling you get when you almost fall of a ledge but save yourself at the last second. Basically this feeling would continue and I would be frozen staring at my window blinds or wall. I can't move but you have the horrible anxious feeling, you aren't sleeping and you aren't awake. It feels like when your arm falls asleep except with your entire body and it hurts like fuck. This is usually accompanied with a semi-dream where there is always blood flowing, like down my blinds as I stare half-awake or inside my dream if I become paralyzed during one. Luckily it has only happened about 4 times.

Pounding sand does not really mean fuck off. It just means pounding sand. It is what it is ...

On a date? But dates are so small! How can we fit two people on one date!? Preposterous. Go pound some sand.

i used to sleep paralaysis every other night for a few months, it no longer became frightening after awhile but just felt very uncomfortable. i would start to see how long i could last without attempting to wake myself up (focus on lifting up my head would do the trick) and it would feel like i was sinking deeper into an abyss the longer i stayed and the more difficult it would be to wake up self out without experiecing panic. Havent had it in awhile, could be in part that i stopped any caffeine intake

I have had and have a shitload of sleeping disorders and it has nothing to do with staying awake.
Earlier I sleep walked sometimes (not regularly though). I've had sleep paralysis for some periods of time some years ago. More recently I am experiencing night terror and bruxism.
The night terrors I have so frequent lately I can't have a proper relaxed sleep. I started trying some valerian root, I still get some weird freaky nightmares on the daily basis the difference has been not getting so stressed out with them
