I avoid them like plague. Especially now that I brew my own beer, last thing I need is someone knocking on my door at 2 am on a work night because they know I have 30 gallons of alcohol inside.

I drink every day, but usually not uncontrollably. I have found myself drinking booze that I probably shouldn't take but I always replace it... No families torn apart yet
I am actually a way better person when I've got a little alcohol in my blood, otherwise I don't give a flying fuck what anyone else is about. Get a beer in me and I listen to what you have to say and generally just interact more.

It's easier to make beer and wine in 5 or 10 gallon batches, so my place is always well stocked with booze. I don't mind sharing it freely either, but I'm damn glad that certain people that I cut out of my life haven't learned about my new hobby. I'd have assholes showing up at all hours and wanting to permanently camp on my couch.

Lots of judgment in this thread :crankey: Ever consider the possibility these people drank themselves into oblivion because their friends were shitty people themselves?

I consider myself an alkie, but I don't drink out of self-pity, I drink out of boredom and ennui. And yeah I hold things down. I'm getting good grades in school, transferring next year, and I don't drink if I know it will get in the way of things I have to do. I'm actually on a break right now because it's the last couple weeks of school and shit is hectic.

But if the coast is clear then yes, I will get shitfaced, by myself or with friends, every night, and I'd prefer not to be judged for it :kingcrankey:

 Some people need judgement.

I have a friend that's doing several years for vehicular homocide and DWI, if he wouldn't have beaten his first 20 DWI's by using connections and had to suffer some consequences, he might have been forced to get his shit together before he killed someone.

My mom gets drunk everyday and can really be a complete bitch a lot of the time. Of course, in her mind, she isn't an alcoholic, just a "partier"

I'll be the first to admit I'm an alcoholic. I drink for a lot of reasons, but the main one is because I love it.

I'm a super-friendly, mellow, gregarious type of drunk myself. Though there have been a couple times I had to fly off the handle because people weren't respecting my space.

I'm also the undisputed champion of bloody knuckles.

Oh, yeah, I'm not a 24/7 person. I used to be when I worked as a bartender, but that's another story. I usually wait until the evening, though it's pretty common for me to have a beer or two with lunch, and occasionally I'll have a bloody mary with breakfast.

its no different then any other addiction, just its more common because alcohols mainstream.

also alcohols awesome. people should stop faking like they care about public health concerns so much.

for one thing health and medicine is a profiteer industry. so obviously the establishment doesnt give a shit and implies society doesnt either.

really though, who doesnt know a few alcoholics. its even more common in aus and uk or basically all of EU.

i believe adults dont deserve bigotry from hypocritical bastards for choices they make with theirlives, as long as its not seriously harming anyone else, people should chill IMO.

I've had a distant relative with an alcohol problem (probably still has but we've never heard from her again).

In the worst days where she didn't have any booze she would drink perfume or just ethyl alcohol  she would also beat in her mom.
