my friend's alter ego innoc'd 12 jars of WBS on 3/29. 6 eq, 6 pr. the eqs have since sprouted and are growing well. however, the prs haven't done anything.
there is no colonization in those jars and also no sign of contamination. they're stored at 86F.. he figured that since the eqs have taken off so much by now, the prs should have too.
oh, the syringes were approx 2 months old (stored in a cool room in ziplock bags in a box.. it was still cold around here and the room they were in is uninsulated so the temp was usually ~40-50F).
should my friend's alter ego pitch the pr jars and try something else or continue to wait?
also.. is it usual to have mycelium growing all the way up the side of the jar? past where the substrate ends? its growing very rhizomorphically... but it seems like a waste to have mycelium that's not on any substrate and just sucking nutrients. hes been "knocking" it down (slapping the jar against his hand to mix it into the substrate and shaking it up). or should he just let it go?

Wait a few more days before you give up on it.

Don't knock it down. It damages the mycelium and probably uses more nutrients recovering than it does growing upward.

I'd say pitch the pr jars. If you don't see any colonization in 2 weeks than your probably not going to... Bacterial contam can set in after awhile if no mycellium is growing on the substrate and could spread to your healthy jars
