I am getting better at this. This was collected out of my yard today. We planted new grass last year and spread hay around to help with the seed. Found this one and noticed black around the pick site. I'm fairly certain of what it is...just need a second opinion. Thanks for the time.

The mottling on the gills points a bit more towards cinctulus, but there's no reddish bruising, so I think it may be a foe.
Spore prints shall tell all ...

Could you get a macro picture of it? That'd help, man. Seriously, that points in the direction (alongside the presence of hay) of subbs man. WATER YOUR YARD!!!!!
EDITEDIT: Also, nice gill shot.

well depends on things. like how hard you wanna trip, body weight, tolerance, etc. theres a dosage calculator somewhere on this site to give you a general idea. and also whether or not they will be dry or fresh. last time i ate cinctulus i ate bout 3 grams and was just fine.

You can check the dosage calculator on this site: http://www.shroomery.org/6257/Magic-Mushroom-Dosage-Calculator
You want to enter Pan Subb for Pan Cinc, same thing.

is cinctulus known to have a translucent-striate margin?
i would have guessed maybe Panaeolina foenisecii or Psathyrella

Shots of the stem might help more with getting a definite identification down. Either way, you would need like 30-50 wet grams to feel something from pan cincts. That single guy only weighs ~a gram wet.

Anecdotal reports from the PNW state that eating fresh Pan.Cinctulus can cause stomach cramps, malaise, and loss of muscular strength. (Stamets, 1996 Pg.80)

It's the mottling pattern on those gills which is making me think Panaeolus
Looks like mine
That question about the cap margin is a good one 'cause I know of no instance of this happening.

Things aren't as clearly cut as you're thinking/stating. You might be surprised how much mushroom morphology can vary with environmental conditions.

It's all good! You must admit Thinker does have a point about the margin, though. Upon him bringing up the notion I realized I've never really observed such a pileus on a Pan, but there's a first time for everything!

Psathyrella grows on dead wood. This was in the yard. I have looked up ALOT of pics of Pan cinc and it is EXACTLY what they show. Plus the BLACK spore print is a definite. DAMN I'm good!

Dead wood can be buried under dirt. There are more than one species of mushroom that has a black spore print and grows in yards.
