"I wanted to do a movie that would give the people who took LSD at that time the hallucinations that you get with that drug, but without hallucinating. I did not want LSD to be taken, I wanted to fabricate the drug's effects. The picture was going to change the public's perceptions. My ambition with Dune was tremendous. They gave me all the economic means to do whatever I wanted. So, what I wanted was to create a prophet..."
CANNES 2011: EXCLUSIVE JODOROWSKY'S DUNE PROMO VIDEO
It's a shame this was never made. It could have been the biggest most batshit crazy epic of all time. Anyway, at least we have this neat doc coming out. And if you are the least bit interested in this stuff then I would highly recommend you watch this clip from La Constellation Jodorowsky. It was life-changing for me. Very inspiring. Especially the parts with Moebius talking about Jodorowsky's way of thinking. Hey, first post!

If he did it was a bad trip, I'm sure
EDIT: Oh, THAT Dune. I have no clue, but I've read the book and seen the movie. I forget who directed it.

Jodorowsky is trying real hard in that clip, but why not just produce movies instead of talking what could have or should have happened.

Yes and any one who likes david linch or dune (the book) hates that movie. It just fails in so many ways but is ok for its campy failings if you like that sorta thing
I heard David linch wants his name taken off of it. Imo Dune is one of the best novals ever written but then again im a fan of sci-fi .
I like how it can take issues of class war ect and put them in a different context.
Dont know pretty stoned .
Btw I cant wait till they have a great movie of these books

that's a shame, I knew it wasn't very well-received but i was still interested in seeing it, maybe not so much now. david lynch is kind of hit or miss for me, I'm a huge fan of eraserhead and twin peaks is probably the best miniseries that's ever been on TV but some of his films seem like they're confusing you just for the hell of it, daring you to even try and understand what's going on.

Well the movie isnt horrible like visually its good but many of the substance is gone and the character development isnt there. Also some of it is waaaaayyyy off .
If you like the movie which I did till I read the book. Then go read the book. Ive read it a few times. And its where my quote is from. That is my personal mantra
I would put it down as a required read for anyone who's into psychedelics or classism.

so do you object to it more for not being faithful to the book than anything?
because to be honest I haven't read the books, I just have a vague idea of what they're about

Well that and some parts of the movie are like .
or you can just laugh at them.
Why sting in leather pants . Its fun dont get me wrong.
I would say that the book and the movies are two totally different entity's.
Yes the movie is based on the book but david lynch either didnt read the book or missed the point by a long shot

Some of the movie was cringe inducing, like the weapons they invented for the Fremen, but the look of it was awesome. It was mostly true to the book, at least as much as a 2 hour movie can be to such an elaborate novel. I did not, however, get any notion of class warfare from either the book or the movie. It was about a struggle among three groups of ruling parties.
